[QUESTION] Are you having fun....?

I was curious about something: Are you having fun watching this team?

It's been three games in and so far:

1st game: We got destroyed

2nd game: Close game, won by a Royce game winner

3rd game: Close for the most part, but we lost by ten

Have you enjoyed yourself, or have you found yourself highly entertained during any of these games?

I have to be brutally honest. Last night vs Memphis I found myself questioning why I was continuing to watch, and i ended up turning the game off early because the game was making me miserable. Felt that way in the season opener, and the Raptors game I found myself to be annoyed.

I dunno if its the mix of horrible coaching and what transpired last season and over the summer, but this team has me feeling like following them is more of a chore than an enjoyable escape.

Yes, I am having fun. Yes there are some things I would change or do differently but I'm not the GM or Joe Tsai. But in their defense.

We have an owner who is will to go over the cap to try to win.

We have a GM who has landed two superstar free agents. (he gets the credit anyway it was on his watch)

We have a great broadcasting team. I even enjoyed the Frank Isola and Chris Carrino calling the pre season games. Although losing Grady was a big disappointment.

The first half on the Grizzlies game to me was like a beautiful piece of artwork. The second half, not so much....lol. It was going on a nice ride and hitting a huge pothole. Footnote from last night game that I read it was the first regular season game since the 80's when 4 players scored 30+ points. That alone was interesting.

We need to face the truth. We have a good team but there are a lot of good teams out there. The Pelicans and the Grizz amount them.

I am also having fun for the love of the game. I won't let fans of other teams discourage me, not saying I never have but I won't anymore. If a rival team wins it all I tip my hat to them.

There is just too many interesting storylines for me to walk away. Kawhi and Murry coming back. The new rookie class. LeBron. I could go on and on....

But, I will say this. I get the frustration there are so many things can go wrong. Like remember when we lost Jeremy Lin for the season on opening night. Sometimes we all need a little time away sanity break.

Nope. I don't see myself really paying attention to the team all that much this year to be honest. I don't think they're good enough to do anything noteworthy, except for falling flat on their face again. The best players aren't actual winners, they're coat riders that played with much better players to win titles, and Ben Simmons is a fraud.

We should blow it up imho, trade Kyrie, KD, and Simmons for whatever value we can get, and then move on with our lives as a franchise. It's a failed experiment.

oh HELL no. I would stop watching basketball completely before I'd ever become a Knicks fan  I still rep Jersey even though the team continues to let me down.

The time to do it was during the summer. We're so screwed. :noway:

I love basketball, but my love for the Nets as currently constructed is starting to wane. I'm someone who watched EVERY game of the 12-70 season. That's how much I loved this team. I can handle losing. During the days of D-Lo/Allen/LeVert/Harris/Spencer I watched every game win or lose and had no qualms about ever regretting the time spent watching them play.

But this era has beaten the life out of me.

Last night versus the grizzlies the first half was cool. But that 2nd half, I saw the same old bad habits and poor coaching again and again and again. I realized that this isn't going to change at all. We're just going to get smashed by good teams, and barely beat the rest. If this was a young team full of kids, fine. But it isn't. This is was supposed to be something much more special...and it isn't.

Like I said I can handle losing, but the way this team loses it's the most irritating thing ever. I think it's a combination of a lot of factors. I still haven't forgiven KD and Kyrie completely, I'll be honest. And, the most important thing:

Ever since Sean hired Steve Nash, this team has been f*cked up.

Simmons and KD will still be tradeable come off season; this will all depend on the success of the team and I personally believe the Nets will somehow find a way to mingle with the lottery of the draft this year and will closely be watching how Philly performs. They are an Embiid injury away from falling into ****. If the Nets somehow do pull off getting Victor, they would still be contenders and it won't take long for him to have an impact. Also, let's not forget, Nets can still trade a combo of great and good players to get back assets. Someone out there will be willing to take a Simmons/KD/Curry haul for a plethora of picks....... I believe Marks is keeping a close eye on those balls rolling his way come June. Am I crazy for thinking Nets will be monitoring the Victor sweepstakes?..... I don't think so and hope you guys are on the same page with me.

Kind of.

The mesh of talent is there and on paper this team should work in theory. The coaching straight up ruins everything. Every game the team looks unprepared compared to their opponents, and they give up so many big runs to opponents without any fight.

I don't believe the team is a contender unless they make a drastic coaching change. Right now its no doubt interesting seeing the variance this team plays with.

Whats up guys new to the forum ,ive been lurking for a while but whats been ahooening to this franchise that ive heen a fan of since 99 is just smh

Did anyone notice we went on a fluid 12-2 run i believe it was late second quarter with the lineup of kyrie at the point, kD,joe harris ,oneal and clax and evrything was running PERFECTLY! And this moron comes in and takes out clax to plug in dayron sharpe ,he immedeately commits 3 turnovers in less than two mins, then he decides to plug in patty to make it worse ! Lmao i mean the entire chemistry/momentum dies on the spot..it was like memphis said “thank you for the help” unbelieveable..

Did anyone also notice early third quarter i believe we were up to start off the third ,memphis hits a bucket ,then another one then another one then the next one, after that last one THE ENTIRE team on the floor face s the nets bench and instinctively starts their walk to the bench assuming the “coach” was going to call a timeout to stop the bleeding and kill memphis’s momentum and GOT NOTHING. You can tell the entires team body language taking the ball down the court during that possesion said “yo this dude doesnt know what the h3ll hes doing” it was like kd said eff it cant take it anymore..i dont blame him.even i said loud Call a time out! What does he do? He brings in sharpe again! Another turnover!

I mean these are proffesional nba executives in the nets front office (sean marks) you cant tell me that they dont see what we (regular joes) see whats obvious to human sight, and he does nothing.!i mean he cant be this stubborn/hardheaded/blind i mean he just cant right?he really thinks we can win a nba finals game without a big man(experienced) center,he cant be this dumb right?you would think in a championship run he would make moves as soon as possible to avoid any self sabotaging hurdles right?. Its like he (sean marks /tsai) are spitting in the fanbase’s face letting this clown coach continue to rott away this team .

Alot of people complain about the billy king era ..justifiably so ..but one thing i do give the prior era credit for it was that they wouldnt hesitate to get a bum coach out of here without giving a flying u know what! .this start reminds me of our early part of our first bk season with avery johnson very similar!

I had alot of respect for sean marks intellect for building us from scratch etc.even during the summer drama “putting his foot down” taking his side on the kd/kyrie vs them situation.however ive learned thats he’s passive and beta and hesitates to get something done WHEN ITS NEEDED to be done! Everytime theres a effing excuse with this guy “ooh we hope to get our missing players back,we hope to wait to gel,we hope to build chemistry,we’ll wait for this ,we’ll wait for that” anything to avoid being ASSERTIVE! I understand he needs time to make perfect decisions but this time around this problem is OBVIOUS and he just sits there and id bet he’s gonna use the tj warren or wait for ben to get acclimated excuse I BET YOU!hes the type to watch curtains light on fire and wait till the house burns down to then pour a cup of water on the debris after then wonder why did the house burn down haha

He pulled this same small ball garbage when we went to the playoffs vs philly refusing to play ed davis (i know he got “hurt”) i think that was b.s tbh.cousins is out there and this man really is gonna use the culture excuse.this man really thinks a front court of dayron sharpe and morris is gonna take us to the promise land smh ive lost all respect tbh.

Tsai is another clown i can see through his bee esss he is just sitting back salivating for the opportunity to move the team to san diego ,he knows what hes doing.two things a. Owner of his magnitude (billionare) would do if he sees a drastic change in ticket sales like weve seen this week, ; 1. ERADICATE the problem ( which in this case fire steve nash) (to avoid losing money,i mean he is a billionare business man right?)or 2: let it continue to happen hoping to watch things crumble and have an excuse to move the team to san diego , from what im seeing he’s hesitating on doing #1 and that alone tells you his agenda is # 2 CLEARly ..i mean i doubt the league (silver) is gonna let someone remove a team from nyc especially with it being 10 years already ,but from what im seeing thats what im sensing.i dont but the lip service i look at actions! Which also explains how he all of a sudden was a bug proponent of just having a “competitive team” out there day and night,no stressing about a championship.

Anyways after the miami pre-season game it left a bad taste in my mouth as i saw that this clown is going to continue his wanna be coaching and take us down under.he’s gonna be the reason one of out star players gets hurt because he doesnt find a way to get him open. Everytime i see kd get double teamed i get a little nervous because of where his feet might landt or how dirty one of these opposing players may play and i can tell kd gets frustrated about that aswell.if something to that degree happens al the blame goes to sean marks for acting like a genius sitting on his a** hoping the stars align perfectly for him. He’s passive and a beta ( i hate to use that word) but its true.

For now im done watching this sht till the front office stops insulting out intelligence acting like steve nash is doing nothing wrong. Forget him him

Yes, I'm having relative fun, but since I hated the KD & KI signings from day one, it's been more of a speculative, curious form of 'fun' based on watching the team alternate from hot dumpster fire to teasingly-close conference winner.

Hell's bells, if I was any kind of KD/KI fan, then this team would be absolute torture. Sadly, much of it revolving around the realisation that these two are a lot more interested in themselves than they are about championships.

All that said, they're indeed incredibly awesome bball players.
Just... sometimes a bit more is needed..

Yep when we had Kyrie, Royce, Joe, KD, and Clax we were bringing the heat.

That should be our starting 5. Ben needs to run the 2nd unit.

You have to assume nash gets fired if they lose tommorow on national tv .stephen a and jay williams calling for nash to be removed today , so you know the national crowd is gonna have their eyes glued to what weve been suffering with for the past 3 years

Pretty cool lineup, no?
Three fairly talented scorers & three fairly talented defenders.

Oh, and I also wanted to add to my reply above--

Even following a hot dumpster fire can be fun with the right mateys around you. Like, a couple years ago I remember a poster on MGrand's X's & O's level who disappeared in the offseason (damn, what was his ID again? remember?), and now it looks like we lost Proky in this offseason, too?!?

What the hell happened on April 27th, anyway?

Yea I guess I kinda am. When James Harden came along the first year, the year we should of won before Greek Freak cheated, I was on a mountain high. But hey man, it can always be worse, alot worse, I always tell myself that, this is one thing life has taught me. Always cherish and be grateful for what you have now because tomorrow you might wish for yesterday. Live in the moment.

At least we still have 2 HOF all time great players to watch. I remember very well that 12-70 team we had, and then the team we had when we gave Boston consecutive top 3 picks SMH now that was HORRIBLE ! definitely the lowest points as a fan. Watching Kyrie put on a show is electrifying , I mean the guy is truly gifted and it is awesome to watch. KD is so lethal . Look, we might not never get this again, I hope we do but we have to be thankful for right now. It's actually crazy that these 2 decided to sign here. We still have a dog in this fight, we just need to tweak some things.

Thank you for posting this.

Stephen A and Jay Williams both echo what I've expressed about Ben on here:

1) He's trying to work his way back in and fit in.

2) He needs to be more aggressive off the dribble

3) Steve Nash needs to be fired.

4) The Nets should be playing at a faster pace when Ben is on the floor.

Jay brings up the fact that we are -25 with Simmons and Claxton on the court together. This matches the eyeball test. IT DOESN'T WORK.

Ben needs to be the 6th man. That way, he doesn't have to defend first string centers (name for me a back up that Ben needs to worry about?) and he can be surrounded by 4 shooters and he can run in transition.

All of our problems boil down to Steve Nash. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

If we get embarrassed tonight by the Bucks on national television, it should be the end for him. No excuses. I'm tired of this unprofessional, unprepared team we've been spoon fed for the last two years. ENOUGH!!!

We need to fire Nash. This should have been done during the summer. KD was right.

Nice post, and much needed for board balance. My team (at one time) went 9 and 73. I know it is sacrilegious on this board to mention this, but my sanity was quickly restored in the playoffs watching Clyde, Dave, and the guys, win the championship. Seeing Willis Reed limp out of the tunnel to start was like a Lou Gehrig moment.

Your post was like a basketball fan's translation of my favorite quote:

I had to vote 'not sure yet'. Right now, I'm just confused.

I expected offensive struggles with Ben + Clax on the floor. I expected growing pains. I don't understand how a lineup with O'Neal + Simmons + KD + Claxton can be FAR AWAY the worst defense in the league.

I also don't understand how an offense ran by Igor Kokoskov can be so clunky. There were a few possessions in the 3rd quarter where Ben was playing PG. It literally looked like an LA Fitness game where you gave it to the athletic guy who has no idea how to play ball and he was trying to figure out how to 'run the offense'.

Still, Kyrie + KD are annoying humans but they're playing hard. Claxton is progressing. I still see the potential in the team but Marks has to move fast to cover the weaknesses here.
