Shams: Nets to hire Ime Udoka
Huge, huge upgrade. I don’t care about whatever happened in Boston right now. We need to win.

This pick up is bigger than the Harden trade in 2021.

Re: Shams: Nets to hire Ime Udoka
lol what a turn. this franchise man.
i'd still get rid of kyrie asap and try to get the best KD offer possible, but this is at least a glimmer of possibility for 1 final attempt at a salvage because Udoka is a massive upgrade on Nash.

Lol we hired him to get the best out of KD, Kyrie, Ben. They could’ve waited until summer if that’s the case.
These are some really weird takes. If he was hired back in Philly, nobody here would care. Our title odds literally just shot up by Vegas.

Letting go of Nash was already a positive, but hiring Udoka and making an actual good move??
Even if they don't go far, this is undoubtedly a good thing

Re: Shams: Nets to hire Ime Udoka
What a soap opera this team is.
I hope whatever Ime did wasn't that bad. It must've been pretty bad, but hopefully it's not in the range where I wouldn't want him to be associated with the Nets. I assume the Nets have done their due diligence, know what he did and think that it wasn't that bad.
I will second the motion about getting rid of Kyrie as soon as they can get something decent for him, although not before Ime punches him and throws him out of practice at least once.
I don't think the Nets are hoping that Ime can redeem Kyrie -- I think they know that ship has sailed. But they probably think it's worth seeing what Ime can do for Simmons this year. If it works, great. If not, they'll pay someone to take Simmons next summer. No one was going to take him off their hands during the season anyway.
In any case, Ime will bring toughness, which the Nets are dying for. And if all of Kyrie, Simmons and KD are gone by next summer, Ime could be the right guy to coach through the rebuild.
But let's not kid ourselves -- it could also be another Nets debacle.

I get what you're saying and understand the optimism, but you should care to a certain degree what happened in Boston. If he's a serial "playboy," you don't want him screwing things up over here (pun intended) and adding yet another layer of unwanted drama to our PR nightmare franchise.

I don't think you get Udoka and all of the initial scrutiny that comes with it just to tank. Udoka was brought in to appease and work with 7/11.
The Nets are fully in "Winning cures all" mode. Tbh, given how quickly people forget things in the age of social media, if the Nets start winning, a lot of the drama that has occurred will be 'lost in the wind.'

I hope Ime won't be soft with Simmons like Nash was

I hope Ime brings the actual coaching he did in Boston here... plays, enthusiasm, practice etc... leadership!

Re: Shams: Nets to hire Ime Udoka
Upside of Udoka:
Willing to challenge players, including the best ones
Adds toughness to one of the softest teams in the NBA
Can coach defense
Shows ability to make adjustments during a playoff series
Preaches ball movement on offense
Has familiarity with KD, KAI and Ben
Has been a great assistant and 1x Head coach on multiple finals teams
Brings a level of accountability and leadership that has been missing
Downside of Udoka:
Questionable moral compass
Questionable decision making (cheating on Nia Long?? wtf??)
Can he get the team to run a good offense
Brings more drama to the team
Udoka was by far the best option out there and brings so much to the table. The biggest reasons not to bring him are off the court/PR.
Assuming all he did was cheat and say crude things in a consensual relationship then I'm fine with it. Hope he gives a remorseful/will learn from it type of vibe in his presser.

Per NetsDaily, you guys would know better than me if he knows stuff. As a coach though, Ime is really really excellent, no doubt, huge upgrade over Nash and that'll be apparently right away I'd imagine

Kokoskov is the offensive specialist. If Udoka can get our defense to be play well, I think we'll be fine.

Agreed. Team has shown flashes of an improved offense but far too often to regress to iso, dribble, dribble when the team is down or in the 4th Q.
Hopefully Ime nips that in the bud. Will take some time though.

Yet, Jason Kidd did much worse in NJ and coaching in Milwaukee. He bullied players. He assaulted women. Crashed his car on a DUI and still got a job with Cuban, still got a job under the Lakers and LeBron.
I truly hate this society who chooses to nitpick morality but ignore it when the next story pops up.

I fully expect your team to start leaking everything very soon, if this is true.
