Congrats to Vince. Well deserved.

Probably the most popular player as a Net since Dr. J. I don't think KD or Kyrie were ever as popular as peak Vince was.

I actually think it’s lame we’re retiring his number lol. Yeah he was a popular player and we had a couple good years with him, but he didn’t really play that long with us and we didn’t really do anything significant in terms of team success with him.

05 - 1st round
06 - 2nd round
07 - 2nd round
08 - missed playoffs
09 - missed playoffs

Kittles, Jefferson, Lopez…these guys meant more to the franchise than Carter ever did. Retiring Carter’s number just emphasizes how sad our history actually is.

I think thats a wild take.

Kittles meant more to the franchise than Carter did? Just cause he was on the Finals team?

East was super weak then. Lets not act like the 02 Nets was beating prime Wade and Shaq lol. Or LeBron.

There are Nets fan to this day just cause of Vince.

As far as our franchise history being sad. I won't disagree with you there.

I wish we emphasized Dr. J and our ABA championships more.

Vince Carter was more than just another great player. He was an ambassador of the sport of basketball. A true professional who was respected by his peers and revered by the fans. Looking back, after we got Vince we had a lot more posters join our Nets board, more so than than KD, Ky and Harden. Probably more than all three combined.

Dr J seems to claim the Sixers. If only he emphasized the Nets.

His trade from the Nets probably hit me in the stomach the most as a fan. I loved him when he was here and made EVERY game enjoyable to watch. His energy and toughness was incredible. One of my most favorite Nets of all time.

Not nearly as popular as Vince. Kidd was objectively boring.

League wide Vince was more popular no question

Nets fan base , I can see this divided, for some was Vince for some was Kidd

But calling Kidd boring is crazy , did you happened to be in a coma around 2001-2005 ?

Well I was talking about league wide popularity.
