The Best Worst Idea? Dubs and Nets

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Wed Jul 3, 2024 7:44 am

Ok, I'm a trade machine junkie, I'll admit.

I saw an interesting post on twitter about Brooklyn and Golden State discussing a deal to get Simmons to the Warriors. My first thought is that Wiggins and Green would need to be involved, in order to match salary. Then I thought, for the right price, that could be nice!

This is one version that I thought would be fair to GSW, since adding Ben for them is more about shedding long term salary, and Brooklyn would need to add value. I know that Cam Thomas is a fan favorite, and Sharpe turned the corner in his development. But both so need extensions next summer. Getting Brandin back is a nice consolation prize, and he would fill a role on this newly formed Nets as a supplemental playmaker, shooter and rebounder.

Here's the deal I'm proposing, what do you think?

Green, Podziemski, Wiggins, Johnson, Claxton
Schroeder, Whitehead, Bogdanovic, Wilson, Clowney

Curry, Thomas, Kuminga, Simmons, Sharpe
Payton, Melton, Anderson, Looney, Jackson-Davis

Oh, and for those wondering, I *think* that we would still have maximum capspace in 2025 after this deal. I don't think free agency is going to be a big deal for us anyway, but just in case, we'll have the ability to bring in an impact star still.

AFAIK, Warriors are trying to compete this season

If he’s crocked and they’re doing poorly then at the deadline

Wiggins would need to go to a third team.

We don't want him and his player option on our roster in 2026.

dont see it. think Nets would keep Cam over Podz, or that it's close enough they wouldnt have interest in the rest of the deal.

could see something like camj for moody, looney, filler (s&t) and 1 unprotect pick. or similar for DFS but with 1 less asset.

I’m glad you’re NOT a GM for the Nets

This trade is madness, pointless, just plain bad

Return to Brooklyn Nets
