Which of Brooklyn's young playmakers is set to fly?
Nets took the unorthodox (unprecedented) approach of drafting and keeping 4 first round picks in this summer's draft.
There seems to be some overlap in skill set and position - which likely complicates things.
So I thought this thread could be a good place to track the progress and development of the young guys, since they're apparently being thrown into the fire.

IMO, Traore has the highest floor.
He was seen as a top-7 pick a year ago and has the game/playing style that has been successful in this league for years.

Demin has the highest ceiling. If things fall correctly, he could be a legit star thanks to his size and skill.
He'll need to be developed properly and have the right pieces around him to really thrive though.
Josh Giddey feels like a solid outcome for Egor.

I am unfamiliar with Saraf, but rumor is he's expected to play a heavy role pretty early on.

Re: Which of Brooklyn's young playmakers is set to fly?
A wildcard in these discussions, new Brooklyn Guard Kobe Bufkin.
He was one of my favorites from his draft class and I really wanted things to work out for him in Atlanta. Bufkin's a two-way combo guard with top notch defense and a broken jumper.
Hawks moved on because of lingering injury issues and the timeline for development. At only age 22, there is still a good chance he develops into a solid rotation guy. Think Andrew Nembhard or Ayo Dosunmo.

Re: Which of Brooklyn's young playmakers is set to fly?
this is the question of the season, and i for one am happy that they have given themselves so many options, it's hard to believe 1 of them won't step up and make themselves the clear starting lead guard in 2026.
whether it ends demin, traore, saraf, or even bufkin, I have no idea. i like all of them in different ways, and i think all 4 are lotto level talents even if none of them are likely to ever make an all star game.
out of all of them demin is most interesting and has the best chance of working out off ball. i think traore is the safest bet as a PG because his speed/length clearly play. not hard to see some tony parker in his game, who also entered the nba with some shooting questions. probably more than traore in fact.

Curious if you guys think Wolf will get a chance right off the gate. Surprised he didn't get any burn during the last preseason game, although it didn't help that Sharpe was sharp (no pun intended) last game
Seems Danny will be restricted to playing backup C and won't be a stretch 4

I'm a Pistons/Raptors fan who came to this board (in peace) to ask about how Danny Wolf is doing so far.
I've followed UMich basketball for decades, and Danny Wolf is/was a player I had the hardest time projecting to the NBA level. He has legit size and ball-handling skills, and was a sneaky-good off-ball defender in the NCAA, but his mobility is really lacking and it's a real worry whether or not he can guard well enough 1-on-1 to get on the floor and earn PT.
Any comments on how he has looked so far in Summer League and Preseason?
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

Yeah he will most likely be behind at least Claxton and Sharpe, and probably Clowney too. His skillset obviously adds playmaking so if they need more of that off the bench maybe that's his ticket, but while the nets roster lacks impact players it has a lot of depth, much of it being first round picks like Wolff, but in his case with Clowney/Sharpe having a lot more experience than him.
Claxton getting traded at some point is definitely a possibility though.
