Rumor going around..

Post#1 » by Da_Kidd » Fri Jan 18, 2008 9:00 pm

Not sure how credible it is but it is being discussed. Got the news from the same guy that broke down the Posey talks evn before we were intersted in him during the offseason.

Like I said, take it with a grain of salt but here's the deal:
New Jersey trades:
SF Richard Jefferson
PG Marcus Williams
C Jason Collins

Miami trades:
C Shaquille O'Neal

Not really sure how I feel about this.

hopefully it isnt true. Shaq isn't a dominant player anymore. I do want RJ to get traded for a big man though.

I hope I am too.

But talks have been going on. Like I said, it's not a definite it will happen just like the Posey thing but it definitely is being talked about.

Let's not hope it won't happen.

It's only a rumour but the first rounder makes it more thought provoking.
It should be noted that shaq has a history of making a difference when he first changes team
lets see

A big fat shaq sitting on the bench sooking? NO!!!!!

A big fat shaq motivated to prove people (riley) wrong for not playing himand thinking he is too old and too slow? MAYBE

It would be a big risk but I think the jury is still out on this one.

if we get the first rounder i would do it in a second we would get a top 3 pick and we compete the year after this just by getting him, and be great for the future. I DOUBT THOUGH MIAMI WILL GIVE UP A 1ST ROUNDER THOUGH

yeha i wouldn't be to hurt with the loss of marcus if we get their pick because that in all likelyhood would be DERRICK ROSE!

what about that with miami's 2008 first?

Edit: or how about we get the rights to swap our 2008 first picks

i would take shaq because i believe he would play some great bball here. think about it. first off it would like a fire inside him and when he's motivated and out to prove himself to doubters then he is great. second playing with kidd can only help his game. second, he still demand SO much attention that he can finally free up the court for vince to drive or to set up open jumpers for everyone else. IMO i make this deal because he is still a beast when he wants to be and playing in front of his hometown, proving riley wrong for trading him, proving all the doubters wrong, playing with kidd and vince will only help. now i'm not saying he will be the shaq we knew in his laker days when they embarrassed us in the finals but i think he can at least be the shaq we knew from his first two years with miami.

Edit: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/shaquille ... l?nav=page
thats not too bad of a statline before all of the factors i previously mentioned

i want no part of ricky davis on this team.

but if miami wanted to do a shaq, d. cook, and swap 1st rounders for RJ, Marcus, and J Collins, i'd definitely have to consider it

this is funny, cause I posted a thread suggesting this over a month ago.

Right here. http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=737244

I think if we can get him for the package mentioned in the original post, I'd definitely do it. Those saying Shaq is done, etc....BS!

That whole team is out of sorts, Shaq's presence alone would help this team, not to mention the fact he's had back-to-back double doubles since his return from a hip injury. He said he'd love to play with VC, as someone else posted on another thread, which is somewhat old but still...funny how he mentions VC. And having Kidd with Shaq and VC, definite contenders for a title, which is what we're after...Why would anyone object to this? Especially if we're getting rid of COLLINS TOO. Where do I sign? The guy can still easily put up 20+ and 10+ each night, arguably one of the most dominant players EVER to play the game, in my opinion.
