Could you use Craig Smith for this year? He's under-tall 6'7"-6'8", and between 252 and 270 pounds. He's very strong, smart, and very quick, able to get his shot off against anyone. His height hurts him defending the bigger PF's, but he has the strength for it; he'd best be paired with a defensive center.
MIN loves the guy, but he's never going to get consistent playing time now that Al Jefferson is here. I'm no expert on the Nets, but I'm guessing this is a safer deal for you then some of the long expensive contracts I've heard mentioned, and a future-protected pick is cheaper than trading away assets like Marcus Williams or Vince Carter. It also protects your expirings.
