Dallas is not going to trade Dirk, Harris or Howard for Kidd. Barkley is just anti-mav as evident by picking David West over Josh Howard and Dirk on his all-star votes.

I think its a possibility that Harris would be involved. I think Howard/Dirk are obviously off limits. And just because Chuck took David West over Howard/Dirk doesnt mean he is anti-Mavs. Maybe there are other reasons present but David West is having an excellent year once again. Im glad that guy is getting some recognition.
RJ 24's deal seems kinda too much for Kidd when the Lakers werent willing to give up Bynum for the guy.

Devin Harris is the center peice but unlike Bynum, he will not be the next "Wilt".

Well, the problem is there is no way we are giving up Harris, thus this trade will never go down if you insist on Harris being included.
2 years ago we would not trade Harris for Artest. This summer, Cuban stated that any deal with KG would leave us with Dirk, Harris, Stack (obvious from recent signing) and KG. The Kobe trade would have happened if they were willing to give up Harris & Howard, but we would not give up Harris.
Now, certainly, Harris is still of limits.
And even if you don't believe the whole Harris thing, Cuban and Avery deny any trade talks for Kidd because he would cost too much (*ahm*...Harris).

Devin Harris + KVH's contract for Kidd.

A team keeps rights to a player for only one year after the player's last pro contract. KVN last contract expired June 30, 2006
Thus, Dallas' right to sign-and-trade KVH ended June 30, 2007
For some reason many of their fans still think they can sign & trade him. That's not true.

Wrong.
The June 30th rule is if we renounce him, we cannot resign him with Bird rights until the following June 30th. If that team wants to sign the player after renouncing and within a year, they have to use an exception or with cap space if they are under the cap.
We still have his rights until he officially retires, signs elsewhere or we renounce him.
But that's not the point anyways. At this point, Cuban was too stingy to spend our MLE on a swingman (Pietrus, Posey, Pavlovic, MoPeterson, etc) that we desperatly needed. I seriously doubt he uses KVH for the right to spend 20 mil per year on an over 30 player doubled by tax. And I also seriously doubt he trades 11 years of Harris for 2 of Kidd (years til they are 36) when PG is not even our issue (our issue is as swingman to put next to Howard).

I do think it's time for a change in the mix...having said that, I'd rather trade Carter or RJ (mainly VC). But if Kidd goes to Dallas, Devin Harris has to come back. Otherwise, no go. We're not winning a title without Kidd anyway, so no reason to trade him Terry/Stack "depth". No, get a young guy and a pick. And I like Harris.

You would think that you, as a moderator, wouldn't go from forum to forum making up rules that don't exist or spewing CBA info that isn't in the CBA.
But you continue to do so. Seems I wander into one of these every week or two from you. Good grief, do your damn homework sometime before cranking out your hso's, okay?
The Mavs had, and continue to have, the ability to SNT KVH. There is
nothing in the rules that forbids it, and there are even rules that speak to that very situation happening, so it's obviously something that CAN happen. And the reason that many of the fans believe this is because it's true.
Now the question is, WILL it happen? I doubt it. But if the Mavs and KVH and some other team want to use him for trade filler, they have every ability to do so.

In my opinion as a close observer of both teams, the ONLY trade that makes any sense whatsoever in getting Kidd to Dallas would be the Kidd for Devin Harris (plus KVH filler) idea.
That allows the Nets to quickly reduce from a $20M a year guy to an $8M per year guy, who is capable of running the team and with lots of talent. And it gives Dallas an upgrade for the short run, the classic old-for-young trade.
But I don't think Dallas would do it like that, and I can't see any other trade of Kidd to Dallas where both teams would get something they want. One one level it makes sense, but I think the Mavs are more likely to roll the dice with essentially the team they have and take their chances.

I can't believe the Mavs wouldn't trade Harris for Kidd. Harris is good, but he's shown nothing to make anyone think he'll ever be special. After last years flame out, I can't help but feel the Mavs are pretenders disguised as contenders. IF they could pick up an All-Star point guard, a leader like Jason Kidd, without moving Dirk or Howard, they'd be idiots to pass.
PRETENDERS: Devin Harris - Jason Terry - Josh Howard - Dirk Nowitzki - Erick Dampier
CONTENDERS: Jason Kidd - Jason Terry - Josh Howard - Dirk Nowtizki - Erick Dampier

To be honest, if we're gonna rebuild the Harris + KVH trade would be the first step to do it. And to be honest, I'd do it. I feel sorry for Kidd, he needs a ring already.

Are you KIDDing me? If you believe Harris has shown nothing, then you must not be watching any mav games. He is our best penetrator, 2nd best defender (behind Howard) and his +/- is twice as much as Kidd. Harris does more for our team than Kidd does for New Jersey. Why don't you take your goggles off and watch some of the games.
Just last night, there was a poll on who was our fist half MVP
37% was Harris
33% was Howard
30% was Dirk
And I would have to agree with that.
Edit: and the biggest knockon Harris was his shot which has been knocked out of the conversation this year. His 3pt % has been better than Dirk and 11 of the Mavs and his FG% is only beat by our 3 centers (Damp, Diop & Fazekas) who are shooting 51 to 63%.
