proposal from the Lakers

Post#1 » by Gus McCrae » Mon Jan 28, 2008 9:17 pm

Hey guys,

Not sure how bad you want to trade kidd but an LA radiostations mentioned this possibility. Tell me if you'd take it:

Jason Kidd for Kwame Brown and his expiring 9 mil contract, Luke Walton and Jordan Farmer.

I personally wouldn't want to give up Farmar at all because his future is really bright but also I don't think you guys would want Luke Walton's contract. what do you think?

as a Laker fan i say no, Farmar is a decent player right now and i would want him for then next 10 years as a pretty good player then have Kidd for 2 years. Replace Farmar for Crittention and you have a deal. Nets fans, if that were a deal the Lakers offer you guys i think your FO should take it cause Farmar would be the best player offered for Kidd at this point

Lakers fan here and I agree, till Farmar can threaten to put up a tripple double Kidds a better player.

besides we can't give up on Kwame with Bynum and a damaged Mihm without getting a big back, so I guess no trade w/ Lakers.

i don't know how this is a bad deal, Kidd wants to go to a contending team and the only contending team left that will take on Kidds 20 million dollar contract is the Lakers so i don't know why some of yall are making it sound like it's a horrible deal.

i never said Farmar was better then Kidd, wth? i said Farmar is a good player right now and i would want him on my team playing the way he is playing right now or a little better for the next 10 years then having Kidd at his level for just 2 years. plus we don't really have a need for Kidd right now, Fisher and Farmar are doing pretty good at pg. we need a sf more then a pg. Don't get me wrong if we could get Kidd for cheap we should get him but if we have to give up someone thats worth thinking about trading ill pass. the only players i'd offer are Kwame,Vlad,Luke,Sasha,Crittenton,Mihm and Coby Karl

Lakers fans always amuse me they try to tell you how good they're players are and how bad yours are. They think Kidd for Brown is a good trade for you because his contract is expiring.

I can see this deal going down but in no way is Jordan Farmar going to come close to the HOF let alone a All-Star game.

Because it is. Granted, when a superstar with a big contract is traded, often, the compensation they get back ranges from crap to outright disgusting.

In this case, it's crap. Keep in mind that the Nets still have Marcus Williams, who they drafted ahead of Farmar in the same draft. If Kidd is traded, Marcus will get the bulk of playing time to see if he can reach his potential (which is higher than Farmar's).

So yeah, it's a crappy deal. That's why no one with the Nets wants to make this deal. Now is it the best deal we can get? Now that is a different question altogether. And then, if that is the best deal we can get, the next thing you ask is, "should we make the deal?"

1) marcus williams is not better than Farmar statistically at least. I haven't seen him play enough so I can't pass judgment.
2) agreed that Kidd is much better than Farmar and farmar's peak probably won't be as good as Kidd's prime.
3) would you want Lamar and Fisher? maybe for Kidd and a filler? (you still keep a vet and let Marcus Williams develop; Lamar can play the 4)
4) if no to #3, what do you think would be a good trade between Lakers and Nets for Kidd? or do we not have the pieces?

we know kwame is GARBAGE, it's an EXPIRING CONTRACT. When you rebuild a team you need to be out of the cap so you can sign other players.

Like i said before i think we're the only contending team that has made an offer better then all the other contending teams. What is the point of letting kidd stay on your team and letting him play out his contract when he only has a couple years left. Might as well take the expiring, and hit the lottery and get a head start in rebuilding the team instead of waiting another 2 years. Why waste his years as a bball player? After all he's done for the Nets at least let him compete for a title.

and for the record Farmar>Marcus WIlliams rite now
