I am just curious with all of the trade ideas that are getting thrown around, why not Kidd for Arenas? Obviously it doesn't solve the whole "what the hell do you do with Vince Carter" problem but Arenas and Jefferson are good platform to quickly rebuild. The way the Wizards are going they could clearly gain more by adding Kidd to the mix than trying to re insert Arenas.

I too was looking at Portland as a possibly an option. And what I was looking at wasn't too far from what you had.
In mine, we get Fernandez, Rodriguez (or Jack, either one is fine), Frye, Webster, Miles (ack), and LaFrentz (another ack) + picks (negotiable as to what kind of picks). Yes, Miles and Raef's contracts are not good, but the way I look at it, we blow it up completely. And we SUCK and hitch a ride to the top of the lottery. LaFrentz will expire after next year (same year as Twin), and Miles the year after that. We should have plenty of cap space after that.
What does Portland get? Kidd, VC, and Allen. Why for them? They already have a good team now, and adding Kidd and Vince to that team should make them a legit contender this season and a SCARY team next year if Oden returns healthy.
PG - Kidd, Blake
SG - Roy, Jack
SF - Carter, Jones
PF - Aldridge, Outlaw
C - Pyzbilla, Allen
That lineup should be able to contend THIS year.

Kidd either goes to the Cavs or Lakers
I don't know how they do it but at the point if Kidd is demanding a trade they'll have to do it

There is no way a team will trade for both Kidd and Carter, it isnt working in NJ, it wont work elsewhere. With that said...
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=
Add in the 1st round pick from Clips via Minnesota. GS trades for a super athletic freak and makes a push to the top of the West without breaking up its chemistry. LAC go in next year with a core of Kidd/Kaman/Brand and the Nets get a pick, some exp. and some young prospects.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=
Add in a 1st round pick from Orlando (lotto protected-2008, top 10-2009, top 3-2010, unprotected thereafter). Orlando tries to match Boston's "Big 3" with their own. NJ adds another pick, more expirings, and some more young talent.
Buy-out Garrity and Cassell and your down to the 15 player limit. No player other than Jefferson is signed to longer than 2 years giving you plenty of cap space and your young core is made up of M.Williams, S.Williams, Boone, Boki, A.Wright, Kristic, Livingston, Redick, B.Wright and Pietrus.

I cant use trade checker, but it should work:
Camby, Najera (expiring), Jr Smith (expiring/restricted), Atkins, and some draft picks for Kidd and Boone. We can also include T'wolves Theo Ratliff in a 3 team trade, giving them Camby (if u dont want him) so you guys can dump salary.

If San Antonio offers that, NJ would jump on it.

Kidd being traded is really interesting,
because a team thats close to winning
it all wont want to trade any core players
from their team to get Kidd in fear it would
totally mess up the teams chemistry, which
is a giant part of winning. Then on the other
hand if the Nets trade Kidd to a team thats
not close to winning a title, that team isnt
going to want to trade any good young
players for the fact Kidd probably wont
be around by the time that team gets
better due to Kidds age. The Nets are
in a tough spot, I dont think you guys
are going to get what Kidds worth which
sucks.. .I have a feeling the Nets will have
to settle a bit. However if you all can find
a team that is overloaded with good young
talent, get 2-4 young guys who could become
good down the line & maybe a ending contract,
that might be the best the Nets can pull off.. .
Id love for a deal to be worked out between
Portland and you guys. I know Pritchard wont
trade any of our core guys & prefers to trade
around the draft, but I still have hope!! Haha.. .
Whatever happens I wish the Nets the best.
Just dont trade Kidd to the Lakers, their fans
& that team dont need any bigger egos then
they already have. Their heads would explode.
