Carter Trades

Post#1 » by lurkingobeiscity » Tue Jan 29, 2008 4:49 am

If Kidd goes, then the Nets are going into full rebuild. Carter must go if Kidd goes. Jefferson could be traded too, but only for the right package and we would have years to wait for that package. Carter needs to be traded before the deadline more so than Kidd.

What Carter trades are out there? We need to take back salaries that end in two or three years, we need some young talent back and draft picks back.

I could see these teams showing some level of interest for various reasons (random trade idea):

Cleveland (Hughes + prospects/picks?)
Dallas (Stackhouse + Hassel + prospects/picks?)
Denver (Dunno salary wise)
Houston (Mike James + Rafer Alston + prospects/picks?)
Indiana (Marquis Daniels + Foster + prospects/picks?)
LA Lakers (Lamar Odom + ? OR Kwame + prospects/picks?)
Miami (?)
New York (Malik Rose + Fred Jones + prospects/picks?)
Utah (Harpring/Okur + Jason Hart + prospects/picks?)

Just a rough brainstorm. Have no idea what other teams fans think.

Any trade ideas?

Personally, I like a NY/Indy trade where we get a couple draft picks or a Utah deal that gets us CJ Miles and a pick.

Again, no need for other teams fans to get outraged. Just throwing ideas around.

Maybe revist Carter for JO? With Kidd gone, the idea of JO sitting out most if not all of this season would be a positive (better pick situation).

Considering many of the possibilities above are little more than salary dumps for non-expiring mediocrities, I'd rather gamble on JO. Hell, if nothing else JO is a year shorter than Vince.

Add in the 1st round pick from Clips via Minnesota. GS trades for a super athletic freak and makes a push to the top of the West without breaking up its chemistry. LAC go in next year with a core of Kidd/Kaman/Brand and the Nets get a pick, some exp. and some young prospects.

Add in a 1st round pick from Orlando (lotto protected-2008, top 10-2009, top 3-2010, unprotected thereafter). Orlando tries to match Boston's "Big 3" with their own. NJ adds another pick, more expirings, and some more young talent.

Buy-out Garrity and Cassell and your down to the 15 player limit. No player other than Jefferson is signed to longer than 2 years giving you plenty of cap space and your young core is made up of M.Williams, S.Williams, Boone, Boki, A.Wright, Kristic, Livingston, Redick, B.Wright and Pietrus.

No matter how carter is playing these trades are for a bunch of scrubs lol I would not trade VC unless we got a star type player or good couple of young players these trades are low balling what even a hurt and slow VC is doing I would rather wait and see what he can do because he's not his self he's for sure hurting.

With Carter and Kidd gone, JO would really not have value for the Nets.

I'd deal Carter and Allen to the Heat for Ricky Davis and Haslem.

I'd trade him for something like Odom and Critt and a pick.

for VC, not a chance. I would think the best thing would be to pile up contract space and good picks. mid level players, or even good players with high salaries wont be any use to this team moving forward.
