What I figure is that even if Collins were to get injured... It's like Memphis is trading for him with the intention of actually playing him anything more than spot minutes.

Is that what the Nets are gonna look to do with Swift?

I personally still think Swift has some game. Granted his upside isn't that great, but I think he can be a force and still be the 1st big off the bench for many teams. All depends on the type of system he's in and who's giving him the ball. Our system doesn't necessarily fit, but our PG (right now, anyways) does.

I've wanted him for a few years, think it may be too late for what I had hoped. Make this deal, make another deal for a shooter (Matt Carroll for Magloire + Wright) and see what happens the rest of the season and in the playoffs. After that, look to trade the key players in the offseason, if we don't like where we're headed.

We've made 1 of 3 moves I think needed to be made. Collins is gone, now fire Frank and get a shooter. Hope that Krstic can perform like he did pre-injury.

I hope not, but here's the problem the Nets face.

Josh Boone, Sean Williams, Nenad Krstic (most likely returning tomorrow), Malik Allen

Those are 4 bigs expected to be in the rotation and able to contribute.

So I guess the question is who is going to drop out / have their PT reduced in order to give Swift a decent amount of minutes?

My guess / hope is that at first Nenad's minutes are limited, but eventually when / if he returns to form this season Nenad's minutes will increase and Swift will eat up Allen's minutes ultimately making Allen a situational player who really only plays when the Nets need more offense.

<--- I'm kind of rambling but what I think is going to happen is that, Swift and Allen will basically eat up one another's minutes depending on what the Nets need.

If the Nets need more defense or are in a running mode Swift will probably get decent burn, if the Nets are stuck in the halfcourt or are in need of more offense I wouldn't be surprised to see Malik Allen get more PT...

I wanted to see Swift play with Kidd for a long time so I hope he'll stick with the Nets. Stro has been playing better as a starter but with the way Boone and Williams have been playing, I agree that the 1st big off the bench would be pretty good. Williams tends to get in early foul trouble once in a while too...

That being said, I hope this deal will get officialized on Monday and that Swift will get his first minutes in a Nets uniform next week.

Nice win by the Nets tonight btw!

I haven't seen Allen play much this year except for a game against the Raptors in which he played 20 minutes and recorded no points. But, I must say he had a couple of good offensive games this year, just like Stro.

We'll see but like I said in my previous post, Boone and Williams have been playing pretty well since they're starting. Area 51 is awesome I can't wait to see more of him. As for Nenad well he's a talented player that can get decent PT if he can find his game back.

With Krstic coming back, depending on how he does, I can see Allen be the odd man out as Krstic gives us what Allen gives (spot up shooter) and more.

Exactly what I was going to say. When/If Krstic gets back to his old ways, there really is no need for Malik Allen to play much at all. I can see any combination of Krstic/Boone Krstic/Swift Krstic/Williams starting. But I personally think Sean Williams should come off the bench and either Boone or Swift should start since Williams tends to get into foul trouble early and often.

Malik Allen was sick so he was there for Sean and Boone.

Tonight he is not playing but will be dressed.

I think the Nets are setting up to trade Sean Williams in some type of Three way deal with Kidd.

Think about it, Williams and Swift game are extremely similiar, though Williams is young and has a good upside. Swit is extremely talented, but just has been a malcontent his entire career. Hopefully for the organizations stake, the nets coaching staff can motivate him and give his career CPR.

If not that, then they are definetely going to add Malik Allen in some type of package, but I feel as though they should keep him since he can hit the open 18 footer unlike Williams on a consistant basis.
