Nets trade: Jason Kidd, 1st rd. draft pick
Wizards trade: Gilbert Arenas, Etan Thomas

The Nets would get Bird Rights to Gilbert Arenas, while at the same time keeping their nucleus young. I still think Gilbert would resign with the team considering the players who are here and the idea of balling in Brooklyn. You could get this done before the deadline.

Nets trade: Vince Carter, Stromile Swift, cash
Suns trade: Shawn Marion

This gives the Nets an athletic and defensively gifted combo forward who again keeps the Nets a little younger than they are now. The Suns would get a big time guard who fits their system as well as a decent big man who would presumably get more minutes than he got in Memphis at least. You don't have to do this one until the offseason.

So, by this time next season, your lineup could be:

Arenas
Wright
Jefferson
Marion
Krstic

with Nachbar, Etan Thomas, Marcus and Shawn Williams, and Josh Boone still under contract. Is it a world beater? No. Is it better than what you've got? Yeah.

Your GM got you guys stuck with a few bad contracts. This helps you get out from under them.
