NJ Trades: Carter
NJ Receives: Battier, James, Head

Hou Receives: Carter
Hou Trades: Battier, James, Head

Why for NJ? They get rid of Carter, who some people claim is part of the reason Kidd wants out. While they dont' get any stars in return, they get a lot of solid rotation guys in Battier, James, and Head. More importantly, Battier and James are both excellent perimeter defenders that can bolster NJ's defense. Finally, all three guys can shoot the ball to help one of the league's worst shooting teams.

Why for Hou? They re-unite Carter and McGrady, which should re-energize Carter again and form a more balanced big three (Carter, Tmac, Yao) than the one in NJ. This also frees up more minutes for rookie Aaron Brooks.

Would Houston do it. That's the question.

Also, it's pretty horrible on the Nets side.

Talent wise, yes it is. But we really aren't going to get equal value back for Vince. I think fit wise, it can work out. Our lineup can look like this:

PG - Kidd, Williams, James
SG - Battier, Wright, Head
SF - Jefferson, Boki
PF - Williams, Swift
C - Boone, Krstic, Allen

It gives us versatility with our second unit. If we choose to go defensive, we can have a lineup of:

PG - Armstrong
SG - James
SF - Wright
PF - Williams
C - Swift

That's a lineup that is going to be a pest defensively and can get up and down the court. Similar to the 2nd unit that Detroit employed the year they went to the Finals (and won).

We can go offensive also:

PG - Williams
SG - Head
SF - Boki
PF - Allen
C - Krstic

Or a more balanced one:

PG - Williams
SG - James
SF - Wright
PF - Swift
C - Krstic

If it doesn't work out, we get out of Vince's contract, and next year Kidd will be an expiring deal and it will be one more step towards rebuilding.

I was coming back from the Carnival and thinking about how we could trade Carter.

I thought about 2 options. Both long shots, but...

First:

Vince Carter going to Jazz.

Utah Jazz needs a great SG to become a contender. Maybe they think that VC is what they need...

Jazz would send Brewer to Hawks and some filler to Nets (Harpring, Collins).

Hawks won't be able to re-sign Childress in the off season. So, they would sent him to Nets and would get Brewer who is only in his second season.

Other names would be in the mix like Pachulia. But tha'ts the idea to the trade.

Option 2:

We send Carter to Bobcats with Boone and get back Richardson and Okafor.

VC is a better player than Richardson and MJ doesn't want to pay Ok4 the extension he wants...

Two are long shots, i know. My english is not great, so sorry if something you couldn't understand.

I want to move Carter but I don't like getting Battier (long contract, no upside, same position as Jefferson...), I see no reason to have Mike James, and Head isn't a very enticing prospect to me. I see no way that this deal improves us, which you suggest as a possibility.

A first would make the deal more interesting but I would still be looking around the league. If we can get some Knicks picks, then that is the first trade I would look at(wouldn't put anything past Isiah).

A trade with the Jazz that I would also consider:

New Jersey Nets

Incoming Players
Jason Hart
Salary: $2,300,000 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 3.4 REB: 1.2 AST: 1.8 PER: 8.33
Morris Almond
Salary: $1,005,960 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 0.5 REB: 0.0 AST: 0.2 PER: -6.30
Matt Harpring
Salary: $6,000,000 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 8.1 REB: 3.1 AST: 1.0 PER: 15.70
C.J. Miles
Salary: $945,610 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 5.3 REB: 1.4 AST: 0.9 PER: 14.66
Kyrylo Fesenko
Salary: $750,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 1.4 REB: 3.3 AST: 0.3 PER: 2.24
UTAH JAZZ 1st rounder

Outgoing Players: Vince Carter, Darrell Armstrong

Utah Jazz

Incoming Players
Vince Carter
Salary: $13,325,000 Years Remaining: 5
PTS: 20.7 REB: 5.5 AST: 5.1 PER: 17.69
Darrell Armstrong
Salary: $770,610 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 2.1 REB: 0.9 AST: 1.3 PER: 6.60

Outgoing Players: Jason Hart, Jarron Collins, Matt Harpring, C.J. Miles, Morris Almond, Kyrylo Fesenko, 1st rounder

If we could get Brewer or Millsap too, I would jump on this deal, but I doubt they would agree to trade them. I really like the potential of CJ Miles, btw. Harpring's deal ends in two years after this one (one year before Battier). Fesenko and Hart help salaries fit while Miles, Almond and the 1st give NJ an incentive to do the deal.

Utah ends up with an amazing team of:
Williams/Price/Armstrong
Carter/Brewer
Kirilenko/Korver
Boozer/Millsap
Okur/Collins

I really can't think of a good reason why they wouldn't do it.

Nets kick-start their rebuilding effort and get to work on trading Kidd.

Houston wouldn't hesitate .1 seconds to do this trade. .0000000000001 - Carter would address nearly EVERY single problem that's been plaguing them.

I would like this trade better. Seeing that Rod want expiring contracts you have 3 in this deal worth up to about 7 million. You could add in draft picks.

For Houston they get Kidd who can help put them in competition wit the Western conference. Wit the big three of Kidd/Yao/McGrady

not really interested in what the Jazz have for VC...but if you could get the Bobcats to bite at the above, I would definitely consider it...probably make it...

Has Okafor's value really declined that much? A Kidd / RJ / Okafor lineup makes a lot of sense.

Oka4 wants the max. That's a problem to MJ.

I think that's the best we could get for VC.

VC and Boone to Bobcats
Richardson and Ok4 to Nets.

Then shouldn't it be a problem to us? Or does getting Okafor and Richardson make us attractive enough to rejuvenate Kidd?

Next season:

Krstic /
Okafor / Williams
RJ / Boki (if resigned)
JRich / Wright (if resigned)
Kidd / M. Williams / Armstrong

To me, that's a better team then what we're rolling with now... but it means we'd have to re-up Okafor for the max... but maybe we'd save enough money from moving Vince's deal?

Thoughts?

Also - how high is Felton's value right now? He could be an interesting piece for our team... I still don't see Marcus Williams as a starting caliber PG unless it's in a Derek Fisher type role.

Why would Charlotte trade their young franchise player for a 30 y/o VC?

Suns talked with Bobcats about Oka4.

MJ doesn't want to pay him the max.

It's a long shot, but...
