Nets Trade Jason Kidd/Marcus Williams/Malik Allen for
Magics Jameer Nelson/JJ Reddick/Garitty/Foyle/Dooling/Arroyo/Agustine + Top 3 protected First round draft pick

Why for Nets:
Get $15 million worth of expiring and promising youth in Nelson and Reddick. Nelson's contract is not that bad IMhO. Give Kidd a chance for a shot on the ring.

Why for Magic:
Lately the Magic had difficulty delivering the ball to Dwights hand in the post. Kidd is a no brainer fit for the young Guy. Marcus Williams and Malik Allen will back-up the void left by traded players.

Can't we keep Marcus and you keep Jameer ?

This guy's quite a headache and i personaly would like to see how Marcus can do without Kidd , before i trade him.

For the rest of it i'm fine with it sign me in .

1 second round pick from the Magic

You could replace Dooling with Reddick, or Garrity with Reddick but I doubt the Magic would do that since then the trade for them becomes:

Dooling + Reddick + Augustine + 2nd Round Pick for Gooden + Armstrong

Then again maybe I'm overvaluing how much the Magic value Dooling...

why in the world would we want eric snow? plays decent defense but we just have another offensively challenged point guard without the same playmaking ability.

I think we could use dooling because we essentially have no back up 2 guard. Wright does not count.

Ira would only take from Bokie's minutes and Garrity would see no time behind our bigs.

You asked so I will answer

The Nets take on Eric snow because his contract expires at the end of next year. They get Snow instead of say Donyell Marshall because the Cavs are already sending out Drew Gooden weakening them at power forward. Marshall also has no place on this team at least with Snow, even though he wouldn't get minutes, he's a serviceable 3rd string point guard who might be able to impart some of his knowledge onto Marcus Williams.

Also Newble would probably eat Wright's minute - if he plays but on the brightside like Garrity his contract is up at the end of the year. Dooling's contract is also up at the end of the year, while the Nets might want to retain him because they were interested in him before here is what I figure...

We can all agree that if the Nets can only get crap back for Kidd they might as well just keep Kidd and let him expire since that's something like $21 million off the cap at the end of next year.

However if you look at the trade I put together the Nets might for the most part get crap back (Dooling being the exception) but they aren't taking on any big contracts (Newble + Garrity + Dooling = $10.8 million in expirings), Snow has 2 years left but at the moment so does Kidd. Add in the draft picks that the Nets get and if the Nets do decide to rebuild I don't see why they wouldn't do this.

Plus look at it this way if they trade Kidd for the players I listed then they might have a better chance of trading Carter by pairing him with Snow's expiring contract.

The one main obstacle with this trade however is would Orlando be willing to get on this trade, knowing that a pairing of Lebron and Kidd would be sick nasty?

Orlando gets a couple of players they could use but I wonder how they would feel about helping another eastern conference team.

I think you're selling Gooden's value short here. A lottery bust and a bad 2nd round pick for a 26-year-old PF on a very reasonable contract?

for an aging point guard in Kidd??? No way! The magic do't want another huge contract to strap them financially for who knows how long! If we need a PG who can get the rock to D12 then how about

1. Luke Ridnour
2. Earl Watson
3. Chris Duhon
4. Kirk Hinrick
5. Andre Miller
6. Jason Terry
7. Sam Cassell
8. Antonio Daniel

etc.

All of which would come at a much cheaper price....

All of the guys you listed are significantly worse than Kidd, Kidd's contract also only has one more year on it after this year...

It's not like the Magic know anything about financial planning anyway, does the name Ra$hard "Money In The Bank" Lewis ring a bell?

The Magic won't be significantly under the salary cap for as long as Lewis is on the books so taking on big contracts is the only way they're going to be able to get quality pieces around Dwight.

The one thing most of them do have in common is that they're younger than Kidd! So you're honestly telling me that the Magic will trade about 6 or 7 players, 3 draft picks for a guy who might bolt after another season or two??? Can you imagine ORL giving Jersey picks even after Kidd Bolts??? Yeah...I think not. The only player the Magic would be interested in is Richard Jefferson...That's about it.

So you want to add another SF next to Hedo and Lewis ? Ok ......

No....For Richard Jefferson...I'd send out Hedo + a couple of fillers and a Number 1
