Yes Ben Gordon is being shopped! Perfect timing!

According to the Wiretap he is being shopped. The kid is young and he is already very good. He has started only 1/2 of the games he has played and hes averaging 20 ppg. He is shooting at 92% from the line, 42 from the field, and 39 from deep. If we package our newly acquired picks, we could definatly land him if the rumours are true. Then sign him to a big extension.

Gordon

How about this?

VC and Swift for Gordon and Wallace.

2010 here we come.

2 problems

1- Swift can not be traded with any other players in his first 2 months with Nets. So in other words unless we package him with draft picks he cannot be traded.

2- Wallace's contract - no chance in hell

I like the idea of somehow snaking Gordon for VC, but I think it would have to be in a 3 team trade. I don't know if I see a straight up match.

Damn!! for the Swift.

Wallace's contract gets off the books the year Lebron and Wade's contract do. So I dont have a problem with taking Wallace's contract.

Dreaming: Harris, Wade, Lebron, SWill, Nenad/Boone
Bench: Gordon and all the picks we collected over the three years

Just guessing here, but you could still do two separate trades couldn't you?- Swift for Gordon, Carter for Wallace.

Yep that would work. We get our cap relief when Bron, Melo, & Wade are FAs and we get a great young SG to come start until then, becoming the recipient to the 6th man award again!

I still think my idea(which ive posted in the trade board before) is ideal for all teams involved.

NJ Nets get: Malik Rose, Q Rich, Ben Gordon

Chicago get: Vince Carter, Jamal Magloire

NY Knicks get: Ben Wallace

My idea definitely beats the rumored Carter for J O'neil which makes no sense.

The problem is Ben Gordon needs to be resigned. I wager he'll be getting at least 6 years 50 million. Couple that with Wallace's contract, and you have some problems. Of course, Wallace has 2 years left, VC has 3 with a team option on the 4th, so you never know. Maybe something more realistic would be VC + Boone for Joe Smith (1 year left), Gordon, and Griffin. In that scenario you have a lot of the money going to Chicago, so they might pass.

One other thing is I'd be down for trading RJ just as much as Vince, maybe more since his value is high right now, while Vince's is low.

I would also do Marcus Williams, Jamal Magloire, and our (from Dallas) 2008 first round draft pick for Ben Gordon. Then sign him up long term.

Harris/DA
VC/Gordon/Ager
RJ/Boki/Hassell/Van Horn
Nenad/SWAT/Swift
Boone/Diop

In Thorn We Trust.

Chicago would definatly do this deal. I would even throw in a future pick.

Actually, I would rather keep Gordon. I dont think Nets and Bulls are good trading partners unless you guys want Wallace in a salary dump move for us.

The only real benefit I see with Ben Gordon over VC is age (6 year difference) and if that's the way the Nets are going then it might be of interest for both parties.

Other than that I don't see the reasoning.

Ben Gordon just turned down a 50 million / 5 year contract offer with the Bulls and VC is getting paid 61.8 / 4 years. What is Ben Gordon looking for ?

Here are their career stats:

Ben
FG: 43%
3pt: 41%
FT: 86%
Rebounds: 3
Assists: 3
PPG: 18

Vince
FG: 45%
3pt: 37%
FT: 79%
Rebounds: 6
Assists: 4
PPG: 24

Both Ben and VC are not up to par this year and neither are their respective teams.

This year alone Ben's defense vs SG is 19.4 per
while Vince's defense vs SG is 12.5 per
as a gauge Paul Pierce's defense vs SG is 10.9

you do have to consider Ben is a tweener so he has played PG for the Bulls but with Harris & Marcus here Ben would be the Nets SG.

and if guys don't like VC jumpshooting consider this year on a knobby ankle 71% of his attempts are jumpshots while 83% of Ben Gordon's shots are jumpshots.

finally look at positive impact on their teams. VC for all his criticism has the most positive impact on his team (incl. when Kidd was here) at a roland rating of +6.9, while Gordon is the 6th most positive impact player on his team (3 guys ahead of him I ignored since they didn't play significant minutes) at -1.9.
Using Pierce again as a gauge he has a +10.5 roland rating, which is only behind KG. However roland ratings are only a reflection of impact within a team and can't use these #'s as a comparison but it's an indication on what type of positive impact each player provides to their respective teams.

I'd pass unless the Nets are looking to go total youth movement and even then I think Thorn could look around for a 'lesser' name with just as much upside but less $$ than Gordon.

My thinking is see if VC has a better 2nd half (which he usually does) and then if you want to go youth hopefully a better 2nd half will increase interest in him in the off-season where you trade him, but if you want to retool & his 2nd half was good he can still be a good piece for the Nets going forward.

I think a deal with Houston Rockets makes more sense.

They are lacking scoring punch and Vince Carter provides that.

They got young talents like Luther Head, Aaron Brooke, Bonzi , Steve Francis, Mike James , Karl Landry that we could get back.

What the hell you need Ben Gordon for?

 You need to focus on a Mike Miller with some size perhaps not Gordon.
