Ok may be not as in ppg, but he defentitely plays with the same style, he can knock down jumpers and drives to the bucket? im not saying hes gonna be AI, but he certainely plays the same dam way

Why do people feel the need to always compare players? If there's no obvious similarities, just don't do it.

I don't think anyone is saying that, I think people just expect good things to come from having Devin on the team

If you compare ne1 to AI it should be Monta Ellis. He plays just like AI.

Okay, this is probably the 454,839th post I've seen that suggests Harris can shoot. In college yes, but for some unexplained reason his jumper disappeared once he was drafted. As a matter of fact, he's even worse than Kidd. His averages are better because he can get to the line practically at will and shoots few three pointers... which are almost always squeaky clean looks because no one respects his perimeter game.

If I would have to name a current player he resembles the most I would have to say Tony Parker. Both have lightning quick first step and blinding speed in the open court, although Harris is tons more athletic, a superior defender, waaay worse shooter and playmaker (and that's saying something) and also not as good at finishing as Parker. Another good comparison would be Kevin Johnson, but without the perimeter game. Actually, KJ is the closest play-alike, the more I think about it.

Devin shoots better this season. He isn't a shooter but shoots a little better than Kidd right now.

I've rarely seen Harris knock a jump shot off the dribble or with any degree of difficulty; it's basically a set shot or something he was dared to shoot with a considerable amount of time and space. I'm not asking for the world, but guys with spotty jumpers like Maggette, Hughes, et. al. they are never left open as much as Harris which I think speaks volumes and how much they regard his ability from the perimeter.

Anyway I'm straying away from the point I was trying to make which is, if associating jump shots with Kidd would conjure laughter and derision, why not do the same with Harris, who's arguably worse or equal to Kidd in this area?

To compare to himself, Devin now at least can hit those open shots including 3s and has decent FG% just below 50%. I would only laugh at his bended legs when shooting. Kidd has lower FG% than 40%. When him in last game, I found myself praying him not to take the long jumpers. He didn't shoot bad last night though and 6 attempts were nothing but fine.

Yes, but that's like saying Dirk plays defense now which is true, but that only means he went from a sieve to mediocre.

Field goal percentage takes into account all FG attempts inside the arc so the averages can be skewed by tendencies like in the case of Harris who prefers to slash first, second, and shoot jumpers third. You have to divide his attempts in three different categories: 1) 5-feet within the rim, 2) freethrow line extended, and 3) beyond the arc. A quick look at NBA's Hot Spots produced this:

Around the rim/5-feet out - 135/250 (54%)
Perimeter - 27/74 (36%) Kidd is 38% this year
Outside - 25/70 (35%)
