Good article to read for the Kidd supporters...

He demanded a trade to the Lakers at last year's deadline, "And he was very adamant about it," Thorn said. The team president assured Kidd he'd book him on the next plane pointed west the second the Lakers agreed to send back Andrew Bynum.
Meanwhile, Thorn reminded Kidd he'd rescued him from Phoenix and a conservative Colangelo cartel that had no use for a star who had assaulted his wife. Thorn told the point guard the Nets had done as much for him as he had done for the Nets.
"We had that conversation several times," Thorn said. "And Jason kept saying, 'Well, I saved a bunch of people here, too.'
"Then, all of a sudden, Jason got fixated on the Mavericks over the summer. The Lakers were no longer his team. He wanted to go to Dallas."
Thorn ultimately sent him to Dallas, the very place where Kidd learned how to sabotage a coach and team morale. But Thorn wasn't about to capitulate to a player who had infuriated him in December by calling in sick with a mystery migraine.
"I told Jason, 'If we can make a trade we feel is a good trade for us, we'll do it,' " Thorn said. "But Jason was insistent on going to a good team. I told him, 'I don't care where I send you. I'll send you to a good team or a bad team, whatever deal makes sense for us.' He didn't like that very much."

Just something to think about...the guy had no interest in being here for two years.

Which is why he pretty much single handedly lifted us over the Raptors last year, tried to ask for an extension, and nearly averaged a triple-double this year.
Where were you when K-Mart left and took money over this team? Where were you during the Derrick Coleman days?
I support Thorn's moves and based on that article, his actions and words. You're not going to make me disrepect Kidd's legacy here though and you're a fool to do it.

I don't understand rich...you really need to relax dude. You're the one who told me about this being a classy board and i appreciate that, yet, you seem to react towards me with venom when i am civil with you. We're all net fans here....i won't refer to you as a fool, i'd appreciate the same kind of respect, otherwise you weren't being totally honest about how this board is.
I'm not disrespecting Kidd's legacy at all. I was there for quite a few games during his time here where he carried this team on his back, doing things that went beyond his own skill set to get this team to a win. I remember his duel with Miller, i was there for 2 games of the ECF against the Boston Celtics, Kidd has done things i won't ever forget! I'm disrespecting the way he left here, not how he started or performed during the time here.
And i've been a Nets fan since 1992, and i fully remember the derrick coleman/kenny days, shoot i remember the days when our starting line up was chris child, kalid reeves, shawn bradley, jayson williams, and pj brown!! I've been through the dirt with this team hence my light hearted approach towards this whole thing and the players...this is the only team i have ever rooted for, and will ever root for...no need to question my fanhood because the savior of this franchise left here like a classless unprofessional and i have a problem with it....as a fan of this team for almost two decades now, i have a right to say what i feel about Kidd's departure, as do you.

I agree, but you cant ignore one part of the legacy and not the other. He has a legacy which speaks to him as a great player. Then you ahve this part, which is also very much a part of that same legacy. Kidd's legacy has its good and bad, and you ahve to recognize both if you're going to be reasonable. Great player with questionable character leading to this. All things considered, I still like Kidd, but he did give up and demand his way out. Can't/won't hate him, but can't be completely in love with the guy either. That would be blind.

Kidd brought this team to levels it had never seen before and for that I am completely grateful. He is truly one of the best players of this generation. This article reaffirms, as if anyone with half a brain needed it, that it was simply time for both sides to go their separate ways.
I wish Kidd the best of life, although I would caution him to be careful what you wish for. There is a good chance that going head to head with Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Tony Parker, Nash, and Baron Davis might not work out well for him.

Believe me, if i was posting here when it was "the good ol days", you wouldn't find a bigger Kidd supporter than me. But in the here and now we're talking about current events, and sadly, him being unprofessional in his departure is a current event.
At the end of the day, I hope things can be ammended and Kidd's jersey will be retired here(as it should, next to Dr. J and Buck Williams who is greater?) and in the basketball HOF he'll go in representing the team that he brought out of the gutter...as i diehard fan though, you can understand me being upset about how the whole thing ended. Alas though as i speak from experience, the Nets did not begin with Jason Kidd, and it won't end with him either!

I have to be honest I agree with MrDollarBills. The way he left was totally unprofessional. To have his agent threaten us to steer his clients elsewhere. To fake a headache and sit out a game. To go public with his demand and lower his value and hurt us. All of this while we paid him 100,000,000.00 dollars! If I said how I truly felt about him I'd probaby get thrown off RealGM so yes I have a problem with him also.
J Kidd was a great and special player and his legacy has left us with great memories. I could say the same thing for Mike Tyson. But in the end there some people I just can't root for.

Maybe it's because you're getting really annoying and way over-the-top with your kidd bashing. Who cares if he didn't leave here on a good note, most players don't (ex. Kidd, Carter, Shaq etc.) Stop dwelling over this situation and MOVE ON! We have a good young team to look forward to and instead of talking about the futures of the team, devin, marcus, sean etc. you keep rambling and bashing kidd over the trade, just stop.

Dont worry dude Rich is never upset he's a very cool dude he just sometimes maybe comes out a bit agressive but trust me he's nothing even close to that.
Anyway Kidd has a special place in my heart that will likley never be replaced (I idolized the guy and shaped my game to be exactly like his) however I will never look at the guy the same way I did a few years ago, he was for a lack of a better word a d*** to this franchise that helped him so much had he gone to a different team in a classy manner like Garnet or Kenyon Martin I would have been fine with it but the fake migraines and publicly going out there and handicaping us in trade negotiations really changed the way I think about the guy.

All I can say is that some of you are becoming the same Raptor trolls that generally come in here and give us a hard time. If anyone one of you goes to the dallas board and creates a thread about jason kidd and how he's a quitter, wife beater or whatever I'll personally ask for you get banned...

A difference of opinions is "trolling"?
Wow. Hey Mods, could you lock this thread please? I see where this is headed, that wasn't my intention.
My apologizes to all.

I dont understand what is happening here. Why cant we balance the situation for what it is instead of getting all extreme?
Kidd turned this franchise around..thanks for that.
Kidd left the franchise on a sour/controversial note.
It's a legacy, but not an untainted one. If you become a raptor-esque fan about it, you're an ignorant ingrate. But if you blindly maintain he's the man no matter what, you're in denial.
It's been said about him for year: Great player. questionable character. you dont have to hate him for his character flaws much like you dont have to love him for being a great player.
everyone calm down. Noone's going toronto on Kidd.

Hey guy's, I have been following this board for quite some time now and I think I Know how most of you guy's think. Yes some new guy's have said some silly things and if the big E was still around he would of tore these rooks a new one. But we are all entitled to our opinion. I don't see the need to bash JKIDD I have already said that he won't win his ring in Dallas and I'll leave it at that. All you guy's who say they have been Nets fans for ages must have real short memories. This is JKIDD's THIRD trade request. All this starts and ends with one person. RATNER. He was the one who came with the Donald Sterling attitude and he made Thorn slash payroll. So we lose Kmart for draft picks, we lose Special K for draft picks.
Now, I'm the first person to say that Kmart was not worth the deal he got from Denver. But if Thorn didn't have to slash payroll we could of got a better player in return. But the point is JKIDD wanted out then and Ratner changed his mind Thorn brings in VC and JKIDD is miracously healed from his knee injury. No VC and JKIDD shuts it down.
JKIDD is a great player his legacy to basketball and this franchise should not and never will be forgotten. But to whinge about him and they way he left is a bad case of sour grapes. As much as I wanted him to retire a net something always told me he would be traded. We got a great deal for 35 year old point guard who while as great a player as he is/was sometimes showed the maturity of a 12 year old.
The very reason we are a classy board is because we don't air our dirty laundry but we still respect each others opinions.
Lets put the past behind us and look forward to a prosperous future.
We can always look back and remember the good ol days and thank JKIDD for putting this franchise on the map and making other players want to play here.
Remember it wasn't to long a go that players thought of being drafted here as a prison sentence and FA's would rather play in Europe than be associated with the laughing stock of the NBA.
CHEERS!!!
GO NETS!!!

+4.
Kidd took a team that was terrible and in 1 year got them to the finals. Yeah i was a little upset that he demanded a trade like that but move on, we still got a good deal.

Of course you had to follow JJ with that +1 remark... (kiss ***)
Why bring up the Raptor thing or the wifebeater thing when nobody else was talking about it here in this thread. THAT WAS NOT THE TOPIC. And what the **** is with this BAN thing, like we're going to jail or something? Stop threatening people instead make a smart post and quit making negative remarks all the time. It's not gonna help the situation.

Why the hell am I a kiss ass because I agreed with what rich said??
If netsforever, Dacher or whoever had posted +1 I still would have posted +2, you're a f***ing idiot if you think I did it to kiss JJ's ass.
Also, I didn't threatened anyone, I just feel this headed towards the same hate VC gets around here from raps fans. I for one hate when that happens and I dont need other fans thinking we nets fans are classless as them.
And when do I ever post ''negative'' things. I'm mostly the guy that tries to lighten things up, EXCUSE ME if the kidd bashing irritates me to the point of having to sound ''negative''. We don't need another thread bashing kidd when we have the Stan van Gundy one and when other posters criticize him in the game thread, Marcus Williams/Devin Harris threads etc..
Edit: In case you don't read other threads, every time j kidds name is brought up the term ''He Who Blackens The Eyes of Models'' that's why I brought up the whole wife thing...
and next time you address me do it with class...
