I say yes as long as everyone stays healthy. We got plenty of Bigs to throw at Howard and I'll take Devin,VC and RJ over Nelson,Turk and Lewis any day.I know it was just one game but thats how Devin plays he's a scorer and i'm once again excited about this NETS team.

yes. With devin and marcus, we clearly can outplay the guards on that team. My only concern would be at the forward spot with Hedo or rashard. RJ and Bokie will be a liability on defense. On Dwight we have plenty of ammunition at the 4-5 positions. If boone can't do the job, go to Diop, then to Sean and Swift. Each guy has his own ability to bother dwight. Matchup-wise we do just fine. Put trenton on Hedo in 4th quarters and we're all good.

Our defense is still just not good though as you saw last game.

Yes we can. Honestly, aside from Hedo snapping in the 4th, they barely beat us and they were completely drained the next night in Philadelphia and got smashed. With Devin out there taking the pressure off of Carter and Jefferson, with our vast amount of bigs, and with Trenton, Boki, and Marcus off the bench, I think we could take them. They don't impress me, the only thing that has to happen is a committed effort on defense and with Harris leading by example i think the defense will come. Either that, or the way we've been scoring, they won't be able to keep up. Lets see how strong our chins are against San Antonio.

Not sure.

It would certainly be an interesting series.

We have a nice mix of youth / experience on this team now... Jefferson and Harris are both players who have made it to the finals, so I'd give us a slight edge on a playoff series just based on the fact that none of the Orlando key players have a similar experience level.

In regards to the actual matchup itself...

Howard is going to get his numbers against us, but we have enough big men to throw at him to slow him down somewhat.

The RJ / VC combination in the backcourt should at least negate the Turkoglu/Lewis combination.

Harris/Marcus/Armstrong should out produce Nelson.

I'd be confident that we could take a series from them, but the real question is if we can win enough game to take the 6 seed away from Washington.

These next 6 games will pretty much be the playoffs.

Hell yes. Jameer can't stop Devin Harris. Carter, when motivated, as he is now, can't be stopped by Evans, Bogans or the lovely JJ Redick. Turkoglusniffer can give Jefferson fits, but nothing worth worrying about, but Jefferson cancels that out with his D on Turkoglusniffer. Lewis is the guy who could make or break the series. The Nets could opt to play Nachbar a lot, but that would mean that shuffling Boone, Krstic, Diop, Swift and Williams at the 5 isn't giving them enough playing time.

The Magic have Howard, Turkoglu and Lewis. Not much else. Nets in 5.

very possible...but the Magic would be big favorites...I know we've played them well...but this team would have to gel very quickly for that to happen...I definitely feel Harris can put us over the top with his scoring/defense in a first round series...

am i blinded by my fanhood in thinking it's more than possible? I just told my friend that we could beat the magic and got laughed at. He just doesnt know.

anyway i say play nachbar in this series only 15 minutes a game and put more trenton on Hedo and even Rashard because RJ can't/won't play defense on them. He might in the playoffs but i wouldn't count on it. Let Devin run wild. Let marcus set everyone up and hit open shots set up by VC. VC will get his. Have Nenad/Stro bring Dwight out of the paint so that 1. other people get paint shots 2. Howard's been known to struggle defending against face up guys (ie. Bosh).

Play all of our big guys 20 minutes each give or take so dwight doesn't get zoned in with any particular defender.

basically I think we can match dwight in the frontcourt. He's got no help. We'll call the Rashard and RJ match up a wash. But then Marcus/Vince/Devin > Arroyo/nelson/hedo/dooling

and that's the ball game.

To be honest I think it is more then possible. Its rare to be considered anything but an underdog when you don't have the best player on the floor, so expectations shouldn't get too high, but we do match up exceptionally well with the Magic.

The bottom line is the Magic simply do not have any guards who can play. In a series against a very good defensive PG they are going to get exposed especially at important times of the game. A glaring weakness like that trickles down to the rest of the team.

Feeding the ball into Howard becomes more difficult, Turkoglu and Lewis end up handling the ball more, and everyone on the team ends up having to create their own shot. Even in those conditions great players can still produce sometimes (as Turkoglu proved the other night), but in a playoff series where every possession is more intensely contested it will be very difficult.

Another huge weakness is the fact that their dominant player is liability with the ball in his hands at crunch time. The end of games is when you need your superstars the most. I could easily see Howard get frustrated very quickly with the waves of athletic bigs we could run at him to make him earn every point he gets from the line.

Why not? The Nets continues having players with a lot of experience on the offseason. Our main shootes, Vince a Jefferson, has many PO games behind them.

Magic is a good team, but inexpert. Our bigger problem was stop Dwight. But now, With Diop in the team all would be less difficult.
I trust in this Nets...Let see as they play in the next games after the trade...nowadays, all are good feelings...

Go Nets!

Too early to tell.
Harris might have made us that much better but who knows, if they like they played in the game against the Bucks than I gaurantee a 2nd round apperance.

It will be deja-vu of last season's play-off all over again.

yes but there are some issues.

Dwight of course being the key. Dwight's offense is still pretty raw but if the Nets frontcourt can't stop him from grabbing offense boards then he gets gimme putbacks. If his FT shooting sniffs anywhere near 70% in a playoff series the Nets would be in serious trouble. Also Dwight's defense is key. If Dwight decides to expend less energy on offense & put it into defense then he can be trouble tracking the ball on guard penetration & perhaps force the Nets to perimeter shooting or contested attempts in the paint.

Pick & Roll - Nets have shown little ability to stop the pick & roll. If the Magic use their PG to do the high pick & roll can Harris/Marcus and our bigmen stop penetration or mismatches and worse if the Magic use Hedo / Dwight on high pick & roll can they rotate to Dwight effectively while still going over the screen to stop Hedo perimeter shooting.

3pt play is also a major factor. Just like the Nets the Magic have a few guys (incl. Lewis) who can go bananas from the 3pt line which can alter a game in minutes.

Can L.Frank outcoach Stan ?
