Game day/night in East Rutherford

Post#1 » by Santoki » Tue Mar 4, 2008 4:04 pm

Hi guys, I know this is a bit off topic, but I couldn't find an off topic portion of this forum if there is one.

I'm going to the Nets game in April with a few friends, and I was wondering if you guys could help us out. What is the area near the Izod center (didn't know they changed it from Continental Airlines Arena) like? Is it close to a lot of hotels, or is it a more suburban type area?

How far is the arena, and surrounding area from New York City (Manhattan is closest I suppose)? Is there a subway that crosses, or do you have to take a taxi? Any input would be really appreciated. Thanks guys.

East Rutherford
Clifton
Secaucus
Carlstadt
NYC is about 10 minutes pending there is no traffic.
You can take the bus to NY

Thanks for the input. Which of those towns has the most accessibility to NYC? We are driving to and from the game, so that shouldn't be a problem, we are more concerned with getting back and forth from NYC on a Sat night.

It's in an industrial area.

Are you asking what motel to stay? There is a motel right in the sports complex.

If you want to go to NYC but still stay on the NJ side, I suppose right outside the Lincoln tunnel would be the closes. That would be Hoboken, NJ. Though I have no idea about hotel/motel prices, where it would be cheapest short drive into the city. From Hoboken you also have the added option of taking the NJT Path train into NYC.

Or he can just stay at a Hotel/Motel near Route 3 and just take a cab over to the Izod Center if he wanted..

I think there might be couple hotel/motel in Rutherford. The train and buses run through there to NYC I believe.

Don't exactly know for sure since I lived there about 12 years ago.

I figure it's cheaper to stay in Jersey, and take the train over to NYC. Just trying to get a feel for how accessible Manhattan is from Jersey.

One more question: How far is Yankee stadium from East Rutherford?
