Jason Kidd: Quit Blaming Me

The New York Daily News -
Jason Kidd doesn't think he should be blamed for the trade that shipped him out of New Jersey, according to the New York Daily News.
"I didn't quit on the team," said Kidd, who will play the Nets on Saturday in Dallas. "The ride was over. At the end of the day, I gave everything that I could give to the Nets. There were no more rabbits that I could pull out of the hat. There were no more rabbits that Rod (Thorn) could pull out of a hat. That is as far as they could go. I took them as high as I could."
He even referred to the infamous migraine incident, in which many people believed Kidd was faking it.
"I don't believe in protesting and would never do that to the game," Kidd said. "My whole thing about the extension, that will take care of itself. Rod does business the way that he wants to do it."

Whatever, Jason. You did quit on this team.
However, Thorn deserves the blame for not bringing in that big man - which Kidd wanted ever since Kenyon Martin left.

I'm not blaming him. But management has been taking pot shots at him. The media. The broadcasters. The fans. Their opinion means nothing to me on this.
I don't believe management one bit. Everyone else is entitled to their opinion.
If the players badmouth Kidd, then I'll take notice. The best way for them to prove Kidd a liar is to WIN f* games.
really now.

Management should leave the pot shotting to us. But i think thorn needs to keep his mouth shut now because its becoming celarly obvious that his poor decision to give an extension to added with the baffling public support of Lawrence Frank has a lot to do with the decline of this team.

I don't blame jason kidd for anything, and in fact thank him for everything. He was our past and he supplied us our future. There's nothing more he could have possibly given to this franchise.

He kinda admitted to something I thought he was doing. He kinda said that he demanded a trade to try to motivate the team. But I guess it didn't work.

Kidd: "They have no identity"
How many times have I explained? We're a running halfcourt team.

That selectively plays defense by design.

I'll second that.
I basically agreed with Kidd about the Nets. At least I think he did care about the team direction. If he told the reporter that what he thought about the Nets is no longer irrelevant, will it sound better?
Nets and the Kidd did move on. But I still consider him an important Nets identity. I don't even like Thorn's stern attitude these days.

After seeing Kidd this season play he's
a) really has gotten old and isn't able to play consistently anywhere near what he used to be
or
b) quit on the team
If it's a) then the Mavs made a terrible mistake if it's b) then he just needs to shup to **** up and accept the blame.

Hey, if you know what the hell our identity is on both ends, then great. You're answering not only his, but all of our questions. If you can't, just remember Kidd just said what we've been thinking this entire season.

i kno
offense = can't play against zone defenses.
defense = only play hard about 1/10 possessions.

I just want to reply to the topic and how Kidd quit on this team...
once again...from time to time, this board as many others do ride a certain wave or jump on a certain band wagon when it seems to be the majority...regardless of this, and what your opinion is, I have stated before how I can see a fan's perspective from both views and how to a certain extent there is validity to both...
However, every time an article pops up quoting one side or another, I find it more than amusing how close minded we become as Nets fans...
No matter how true Thorn's statements are and how the front office had to deal with Jason Kidd and his demands and what they went through as the Kidd era dwindled down...
Was it not obvious that Kidd took us as far as he could...Whether you want to look at this situation from the beginning by viewing it as the Nets front office saving Kidd from the phoenix situation or by Kidd coming over to the Nets and completely turning the franchise around...By bringing together a team, which quite frankly was young and thin, to the promise land two years in a row...Whether you as a fan realize that Kidd TURNED DOWN the Spur's offer and truly rode this one out...staying a Net and trying to win a championship in Jersey...
Whether you really view the situation threw those eyes or not...the fact is, Kidd never quit...He just moved on...and it was time...
There are always shots fired after a deal is done...But in the wake of this deal...does anyone actually reflect on the fact that Kidd could of walked in a year and we would of been LEFT WITH NOTHING!...
Is anyone grateful we got something rather than nothing for Kidd...whether Devin is the answer or not, whether we win more games this year or become a lottery team...How can we not ALL be rejoicing the fact that we have a young talented guard in addition to some decent fillers and hopefully a couple 1st round draft picks...instead of an aging HOF pg who really could do no more for this Nets team...
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I have yet to hear any Nets player bash Kidd, the way he left or how he played during his remaining months as a Net...all I've read is a lot of articles that sold some newpapers or links that are entertaining in the aftermath of a blockbuster deal...and I have no problem with them, I lovem, the quotes you get to read does add some reality to the situation regardless of how factual they are...
But if you're a realist, if you're a true Nets fan...you thank Jason Kidd for the blood, sweat and tears, the two East Conference Championships, the alley-oops and magical passes of a HOF pg, the triple doubles, which many NBA fans wont get to see in their lifetime watching their respective team...you thank him for being a leader, taking the heat and leaving it all out on the court when the game was over, win or loss...
As a superstar and future HOF pg, its a given he or any other player in his situation is going to make demands here and there...for better or for worse...To a certain extent, you should be allowed to voice your opinion and be able state your view of the team your playing for...even more so in basketball...this is what professional sports has become...the player, especially the cornerstone of your franchise, will be heard...if you dont accept that or dont want to hear from a player the caliber of a Jason Kidd, then you dont want a franchise player...
I look back and see how Kidd helped RJ and others grow into the players they are today...I'll always remember the glue he added to the Nets teams he played for...
I watch now and see how its basically RJ's team, with Vince possibly being moved in the offeseason, and I happy today has come, it is RJ's turn and chance to step up and be a leader...(obviously we all know that remains to be seen)...I've watched and seen a better Vince Carter since Kidd has left and a young Devin Harris who adds a lot to a different big 3...
And even if its just me...I'm even happy that Jason Kidd can chase his dream of an NBA title...that he can retire with a ring and possibly enter the HOF with a Nets jersey...whether wearing it or in some display case showing what he accomplished while playing for the Nets...IMO, he deserves that and I'm personally happy he has a chance NOT to become another Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Ewing or Mullin who will be entering the HOF without one...
After everything is said and done, as a Nets fan, the only thing I DO NOT see or CANNOT find in this situation is sour grapes...whether rebuliding through the draft, on the fly or both...our team is headed in the right direction and you have Jason Kidd to thank for that...

I understand his frustrations but he could have done things differently had he done things the KG way in a classy manner I would have still respected him but after the "migraine".
On the topic of his game being on a decline or not in my opinion it very clearly is- the team he wanted to go to so badly hasnt beaten a single 0.500+ team since he arrived and for a franchise that decided to put all its eggs in one basket(this season) not being able to beat a single 0.500+ after such a trade has failed.

I dont think a single Net's fan is upset over the deal we got.
I dont think a single Net's fan is upset over how JKidd played for us.
While Im not sure that I speak for every Nets fan but I dont wanna see Kidd enter the HOF without a ring either even though the players that did it are no scrubs by any means.
Its just that things were'nt supposed to end this way I think everyone agrees with me on this one, Kidd's name was supposed to appear high in the Nets arena to simbolize the most important player to play for this franchise, instead he decided to fake a migraine as a form of protest, demanded a trade publicly which decreased our odds to get equal value and for a lack of a better word bailed on us.
Again had he done things the right way I would have never changed my opinion on the guy but he didnt and now he has to suffer the consequenses.
