This man has performed like an absolute professional in every sense of the word these last few games, hell, since the trade he has been doing what he has had to do to get this team some wins and in essence has increased his trade value, i may make a joke here and there but I have no problem with Vince Carter. Its a shame that he may be shipped out of here, when in reality we all know who needs to get shipped straight to HELL. If you don't have a clue, just look at my sig.

yea Vince has been good, he arrived at 10:30 am to practice before the 76ers game, and unfortunately we have to ship him out because he needs to go to a "championship contender"

I still think vince would be a great fit in Orlando. He'd finally get to play with a dominant big man, he'd be surrounded by great shooters he can create open looks for, it's just an ideal team for him. I think adding vince would make a really good Magic team into a great one.

Dear god I prey to god that we dont ship out Vince, I really dont wanna go through what Seattle or Minesota are going through after they gave up their franchise player.
Thorn has to realise that if he keeps it up he's gonna throw this franchise away to the hounds because of his blind loyalty to a terrible coach that still owns a job thanks to his political ability.
We have a great starting unit with an amazing core of Harris,Vince and RJ please at least try to build on it before you go to a god knows how long rebuilding phase(which will hurt the franchise even more because no NYker will jump ship to the Nets if all we can offer them is a rebuilding team)

Here is an extremley simple step by step guide on how to save this team:

1)Fire Frank- for god's sake how long can this be prolonged the guy's awful on every way imaginable.

2)Hire Mark Jackson- when he talks you can just feel that he was ment to coach 9/10 I agree with whatever he says and either way he CANT be worse than Frank.

3)A complete rebuild of the supporting cast-
*Let Noki go to wherever he wants to go
*Resign Diop
*Resign Nenad at a reasonable price.
*Make moves at Elton Brand(or just sign him if he's a free agent) and or Mike Miller with Sean,Marcus,Boone and Swift.
*Try to sign Vaugh or Boykins and or Ricky Davis.

well post-Kidd trade he had a week of games where he was completely putrid offensively but his hustle / energy has been there and hard work is finally paying off for him & I'm loving watching it. Sadly it seems far too late & the past two games all his great effort has been in vain.

If he played like this all season long the Nets would be in a far different position. I still remember early in the season the Nets were looking pretty good & ironically an injury when VC was aggressive (dunk vs Celtics, landed on Pierce's foot to twist his ankle) turned things suddenly sour on various levels for the Nets.

Who knows, but the Carter injury & thereby Nets poor performance may have made the Nets future brighter w/ the subtraction of Kidd & addition of Devin / Diop.

I know there are a section of fans who want VC off the Nets asap but I think post-Kidd he's showing even the haters he's still got game & more importantly he can be a leader (albeit a reluctant one) for this team.

I really think an immediate future with VC / Devin / RJ can be a winning one if the right pieces are solidified around them.

- Coach: I'm on the fence with L.Frank - he's definitely a hardworker but he micromanages the team to death. Sometimes you have to let Devin & VC read the situation on the floor & let them work it out. He's also got to establish a rotation next year much earlier on in the season so guys no their roles & where there minutes are coming (SWat & Marcus I feel have been hurt by this the most). If he's gone (which I doubt since he just received a new contract this season) my picks would be hated by most here - Larry Brown / Mark Jackson.

- Point Guard: OK Marcus has been playing like junk lately but the likelihood you get a better backup PG (also considering Marcus is still so young & can get so much better) is slim. I like the PG situation as it is moving forward to next season. I think Marcus a full year away from his injury & getting established role/minutes will do wonders for his game. Devin is a no brainer.

- Shooting Guard: I'm of course on the keep VC camp - so is Ager the answer for backup SG ? The Nets still have him in under the last year of his Rookie Salary for next season I believe and I don't see any interest for him so he is likely with the Nets, & hopefully he plays hard/well to earn another NBA contract. Ideally I would like to see Ager moved so a spot can be opened up for a pure shooting SG.

- Small Forward: RJ's
Boki - I like the dude I admit..he's tall, he has 3pt range, is athletic & can attack the basket. He's streaky , poor shooter, poor ball handler. I think since Hassell is under contract & Boki has had a tough season he won't be resigned.
Hassell I believe has 3 years & player option. He's basically a Bruce Bowen type w/o the dirty plays and there are always room on the roster for that type of player but he's got to be able to hit the open jumpshots.

- Power Forward: Boone - he & RJ has been the most consistent Nets players this season. SWat faltered badly after the all-star break but these two will be the PF's next season. I believe Swift has 1 year left on his contract but he looks like the odd man out & trade bait in the off season as I don't see Nets giving up on SWat this early.

Center - Krstic - he's looking better lately but he's still a softie on defense and on the glass and does that bode well for a Boone/Krstic starting frontcourt....for me no ! This will be a tough decision for Nets Mgmt to resign Krstic or not. What is Diop's contract situation..I think he has one more year. I love Diop but without a scoring frontcourt partner like Krstic (playing PF) then his poor offensive game is a cause of concern but I wouldn't mind to see him as a Nets next year.

so too me, if possible Ager traded / Boki not resigned / Swift traded / Darrell retires / Krstic....still not sure but he's the only frontcourt player who has good offensive skills....Nets definitely need to bolster their bench with a pure shooter at the 2-guard position. A much improved Krstic / SWat combo & a more polished Marcus would also do wonders for this team but those are big ?

If you think the NETS are bad now, take away VC and then you'll see what bad really is.

Nachbar does not need to be re signed. Diop should be re signed, and Krstic should not be overpaid for but i think he will be better next season

the Nets need a low post scorer, but i don't know where they'll be able to get one or trade for one unless its Elton Brand. I would trade Jefferson before i trade Carter just because I like that Harris/Carter backcourt and RJ's value is at an all time high, the dude is a top 10 NBA scorer. I really wish there was a way to keep RJ but i don't see how its possible now for this team to go anywhere unless one of our two wing men are traded in a deal for low post production.

I keep Sean and put his butt to work all summer improving every aspect of his game. I would give up Boone in a package deal if it brings back a low post scorer, but i am not against keeping Boone because he has been our best big all year and the kid as soft as he plays is a good rebounder. He has a long ways to go tho.

Marcus Williams, i am open to the Nets keeping him around but if the right deal comes along, he can leave. Devin is our guy here.

I'm with you $$ bills...it we could get Brand away from the Clippers that would be amazing but they won't need RJ (Maggette might be trade bait for them but they have a promising young guy in Al Thornton). They would need bigs back (I'd be willing to give up any of our bigs for Brand) and they do need a SG (VC might be trade bait in this scenario). Heck even Clippers PG situation is murky w/ Shaun's injury plagued early career.

I seriously think that this team will be fine next year and make the playoffs if we keep VC,The East is not that competive.

Boone and SWAT will only get better next year.

Trade Swift for a decent shooter if possible.

Resign Diop ofcourse.

Nackbar has been horrid but I still think that we should keep him.

Keep RJ and VC together for a last effort.

Keep Marcus as back up for harris and try to sign a tweener to help the sg and pg situation if things dont pan out well.

Keep Nenad ofcourse...A few minor adjustments on the bench,especially with a shooter and i think fire Frank and this team could do very well.

I want more than that. Reaching for the level of Cavs, Magic -- 45 to 50 wins would be nice.

How competitive can we be without a big sign or trade?

Harris is our biggest unknown, for big upside. Sean is another who can boost us. I don't think anyone else we currently have have will show much more than they already do.

Where can they take us next season? Maybe not even to .500.

I'm hoping for a big offseason free agent signing and coaching change.

I don't even know what to think of Vince. I'm happy he's playing great at the end-of-season -- but this is what he does every season.

seriously i hope we just get a legit post player if not krstic becomes a LEGIT post player like he will be trusted to throw the ball down to and just bang out and score or get to the line. and i hope we can pick up a nice SG in the draft.

If Carter doesn't get traded in the offseason I think there will be a problem. He's 31 with no ring. It's just a matter of time before he asks to go to a contender.

Especially if he keeps putting up the numbers he has been putting up. If he was on any other team he'd still be putting up 25/5/5.

We really need to ship off RJ instead of VC. Who cares if RJ is younger.
VC is clearly the better player and he's shown that countless times.
RJ is nothing more than a 2nd fiddle. he's expendable.

VC while cannot lead always can still carry this team. He makes players around him better and can pass better than RJ.

Getting a low post scorer will also open the game up for Harris and Carter. I think that along with a legit shooter off the bench is top priority. As far as the draft, either use our picks in a deal or draft a scoring swingman.

The Nets really got some big decisions to make this off-season. I see them looking at two possibilities...one is drastic and the other is more of a tweaking.

1. Trade RJ or VC with either Boone, SWAT or Swift for a frontcourt scorer. I would much rather trade RJ simply because VC is the better perimeter player. VC's game would mesh better with a post-up player than RJ's would. The most obvious frontcourt player would be Brand but other names I've heard rumored on the board are Marion, Kirilenko, Nene, and O'neal. Nets would then need to add a scorer to the bench, most probably through the draft. I don't see us being able to sign a good scorer with just the MLE. If the Nets do get a frontcourt scorer, then I don't see the Nets going hard to resign Kristic. I do see them resigning Diop though.

2. This is more of a tweaking where we keep VC and RJ. We focus on getting that scorer/shooter to bolster the bench. Mike Miller comes to mind but I'm sure there are others I'm missing. He really fits that scorer and shooter mold we desperately need. We resign both Kristic and Diop and really pray that Kristic can get back to scoring in the post. We also pray that both Boone and SWAT continue to develop their game and at the very least are able to defend and rebound. Boone especially has shown the ability to score when either Harris, VC or RJ are being aggressive going toward the hoop but both are poor defensively. The real key to this is getting that scorer/shooter that will provide offense from the bench and hoping that Kristic returns back to form.

I would prefer to go w/ route #2 but if we can get Brand it would be hard to say no to that. I think its critical though that the Nets get a scorer for the bench. Last few games have shown how much we lack a consistent scoring punch from the bench.

Either way, we need a bench scorer/shooter.

I'd prefer to move RJ and one of our younger bigs for a post scorer. Keeping RJ and VC together is cool, but pointless if don't get someone to provide punch down low to keep the defenses honest. This perimeter based stuff has run its course.

Another thing is, this team needs to get a coach that can get the best out of them and teach them how to play defense for more than 2 quarters per week.

I would love to get a established Low-Post scorer BUT Brand isn't going to be avaiable and Nene who would be available is a walking injury waiting to happen . ( and when you look at his contract you should immidiatly start to puke )

So lets forget about that , this is just no option.

so we're pretty much screwed unless Krstic gets it together.
