The Sonics and the Nets comparison

Back when the Nets first announced their plans to move to Brooklyn, I didn't hear any news of some kind of resistance to keep the nets in NJ, but many Sonic fans are doing everything they can to keep them in Seattle. Was it because we didn't really give a crap about the nets in the first place or what? I understand the circumstances around the Sonics moving but can anyone remind me of how the Nets moving is any different?

I think to many fans, distance doesn't matter all that much, Nets no longer represent NJ, and you lose the geographical bond you have with the team.

because to see a nets game from NJ wont require a airplane ride to see...........

Actually I think most all of us true Nets fan's were extremely upset over the news of our team being moved to Brooklyn, when the story 1st broke.
But now it has been 3 or 4 years in the making and it looks as though it is being drug out for at least another 3 years or more, so it almost seems like it is never going to happen.
On top of this, for people like me that live just as close to Brooklyn as we do the Meadowlands, and the weak arena it is, it has sunk in that it is not as bad as it sounds.
I am still thoroughly disappointed we will no longer have the Nets representing our state, but at least we have the possibility of rivaling the Knicks in their own city.
I would much rather see the Nets move to the Rock in Newark, especially because I live 10-15 minutes from the Arena, and it is supposed to be great inside, but you cannot control certain things.
Sonics fans can say they tried, but the only thing it got them was being able to keep the Sonics' name, if anyone decides to bring a NBA franchise there again.
What is that?
Some sort of moral victory?
It like saying, "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you.....".
Bull ish.
It's whether you win or lose. Period.

Truthfully getting to Brooklyn will only be marginally harder for me than getting to East Rutherford I'm also going to be honest and say that the Continental Airlines Arena well the errr Izod Center is a pretty dull place since there's not much to do in the area.
I've always seen the move to Brooklyn as an opportunity for the Nets to get a quality stadium and increase their fan base.
Like some other posters said it's also not that hard to get from NJ to NY...
The only thing I'm completely against though is dropping the name "Nets" if that happens I will flip out. I'd also prefer that they keep the "New Jersey" part but I doubt that happens =/ once again though it's a sacrafice I can put up with though...

I'm in the same boat, I don't live all that far from East Rutherford so Brooklyn won't be all that much farther for me, but it still really pains me that the Nets won't rep NJ any more.

I don't care about where i have to drive, or how long it takes to get there. I care about that New Jersey across the chest like you. "The New Jersey Nets" - that just feels good.

I don't like the idea of the Nets moving, i'd rather they stay in Jersey and move to Newark where its more to do and it would be easier to access. Who the hell wants to drive to Brooklyn? I hate Ratner.

Because we are being fed talk about LeBron James to keep us happy.
Players would want to play for Brookyln since people dream of playing ball in New York. How many players dream of playing in Oklahoma?

For one, the Nets moving helps the franchise a ton. The attendance now is awful and largely due to the arena being in the middle of nowhere. You put it in the city and the team will get a ton of support.
Secondly, no one cares about New Jersey.
