Jefferson ponders his future
On the front page of realgm:
Richard Jefferson can no longer deny what is obvious to every guy in his locker room: Any team with a 32-46 record is due for some changes, and it could involve the guy who is actually having a career offensive year.
The flip side: How does it make sense to move Jefferson now? To move the one guy who would seem to fit seamlessly into the style that the Nets must embrace now that Devin Harris is running the show?
Jefferson agrees with that. But he isn't lobbying to keep it together like he used to.
Say what you want about him but the Nets are better with him he compliments Devin Harris and Josh Boone but maybe it's time to move on.
This is Vince Carter's team now the coach wants that Vince wants that so might as well trade RJ and just play give the ball to VC and let him do it.

If we move Jefferson it is imperative that we get back someone who can score in the post to offset the loss of our most consistent scorer. The way we play now, we need someone from that 3 spot to step up and knock down the open 3's at a solid clip

This will be a _______ team. Put whatever you want in that space. You guys can figure out what words I would put there.
This is going to be a rough offseason if Frank stays, RJ gets traded, and VC has ankle surgery. Three more years of misery.
Only one of the top 5 picks can cheer me up.

Everyone keeps say trade RJ for a big. Which f'en big? Why would a team trade a big for a SF when everyone is trying to get a big themselves. We have 3. We need to hold on to Diop. We need to find a BIG MAN COACH. I say we get OAKLEY or Buck Williams as a special assistant to toughen these guys up and To smack VC around some just for kicks.

So the Trade RJ stuff have resurfaced
So lets list the plethora of Bigs we can possibly get for RJ.
Here are the top 10 scoring and rebounding PF/C.
Amare
Bosh
Boozer
A. Jefferson
Howard
Duncan
Garnett
West
Aldridge
Okur
Okafor
Harrington
Clearly we cant get most of those.
Then now some people are talking about Brand and JO.
I doubt LA trade Brand. They would hold him for his opting year then let the money come off the books. why would they want RJ.
JO! PLEASE!!!!! We can get him when his contract is up why trade RJ for him.

I agree, unless by some miraculous chance we got Brand, there really aren't any big men available, at least for RJ.
I have this feeling we are going to trade RJ for another wing, be it a 2 or 3, and include Swift's contract if he picks it up, or maybe Hassel's, etc., for that wing and a solid big man.
Maybe RJ, Swift and a 1st rounder or 2 for Redd and Bogut.
Or RJ and Swift for Redd and Villanueva and then put VC at the 3.
Maybe even RJ for a high draft pick and expirings, you never know.
Especially if there is a guy we fall in love with pre draft, and know we can't get with the 9-10 pick, such as Mayo, Gallinari or maybe Anthony Randolph.
Maybe we just keep him.
This is not my opinion or fact, just possibilities.

Sorry VC4P.
I dont agree with you here. IMO Thorn is going to try to push VC on someone. IMO Thorn doesnt want to get rid of RJ. Unfortunately if VC needs surgery then we are screwed big time.
As for as your RJ for Redd. I dont see it happening. Why would they want RJ when they invested in Simmons. Redd for VC makes more sense, but I doubt that happens too.

Not for nothing, but it just seems(which we all know is true)that you want VC gone.
I don't think Rod would trade VC just for expirings and draft picks, unless those picks were non lottery protected from a ish team, probrably including a lotto pick from this year, so we could combine that with ours to move up to 3-5.
Like I have stated, and most would agree, this team will be herrendous(I really need to learn how to spell that word) without VC, unless we get a stud back, even if that is a rookie stud, such as a Mayo if he pans out. Nobody has a crystal ball though, so how do you know if that hyped up rook is gonna flourish?(I don't mean you personally)

Personally, I'm on the fence about Okafur.
1st off he is young and has had a lot of injuries already.
2nd, he is not a true threat offensively.
3rd, I don't think he is really an impact player.
4th, he seems like a what you see is what you get player, not much improvement looming there.
Although he is a hell of a rebounder and shot blocker.
