Most Improved I also liked Jose Calderon, upping his asts by I believe more than 3...ect...

I thought until last year, that Marcus Camby was a great defender.
Since AI went there, not so much. Maybe it's because AI makes everyone worst... Look Melo now... He was the leading scorer of the NBA. Now he just "show when he wants".
Look Sixers... They are back in the playoffs.
This season proved how overrated AI is.

I don't think that Paul's defense is so good. But he is the MVP. His ofense is great and he is having the best season of a point guard in 10 years.

I totally disagree with you guys about Doc Rivers.

The guy can coach. His first few years in Boston was hard. If it wasnt for this year, Ainge has given Rivers headaches with his moves. Remember that Orlando team. I watched those games just to see what would happen. He had NO stars and they came close to making the playoffs.

He just doesnt deserve to be COY this year. You add KG and Allen you would have to be FRANK to make it to the playoffs.

^^I don't think Paul wins MIP. He was a top 5 PG in the league last year AND he had one of the bets rookies seasons for a PG ever. It's only natural that he'd become this good.

Defensive player of the year - everyone likes to give this to KG, and yes he's a good defender but I don't know if I can give it to him. His blocks #s decreased this year (though rightfully so since he plays less minutes) but I honestly think Boston's defensive turnaround has more to do with the improvements of Rondo and Perkins, both of which are very good defenders from their position (along with the return of Tony Allen).

Rookie of the year

Kevin Durant, Seattle Supersonics - I want to give this to Horford, because he practically single-handedly carried and manned that Hawks frontcourt and allowed them to get to the playoffs for the first time in so long (10 years maybe?). But Durant has the stats, and Horford does not. BTW, JJ, didn't you remember me saying during the draft that I'd trade Nenad straight up for Horford? We'd be in the playoffs right now wreaking havoc had a deal like that been made in the off-season.

Sixth man of the year

1. Eddie Jordan, Washington Wizards - I was a big fan of EJ and was hoping we canned Scott sooner to make him the head man. A year without Gil, parts without Butler, and look where they are at now. Heckuva coaching job IMO.

1. Danny Ainge, Boston Celtics - Agreed. I thought the Ray Allen deal was brilliant, even though a lot of people blasted it at the time. They didn't have enough foresight to see what Ainge was doing, which was making the Celtics attractive to KG, and that he did. Ainge laughs at you Stephen A. Smith. Ainge laughs at you.

CP is tough defender...plays the lanes well...pick pockets like a thief...he has to be considered...check Marcus Camby's def #'s...def-boards ect...the numbers speak for themself...thats why I through Josh Smith in there...but KG is the easy pick, talk about help defense, ect......I dont think he's ever won it...

some fans dont appreciate a Doc Rivers...for one reason or another...I cant lie, I'm a big fan, not saying he's the best coach in the league, but he got that group to play together at an elite level...including the complimentary pieces and role players; that team is primed and ready to make serious run..some look at it as easy...I look at it as a huge accomplishment from a coaching viewpoint...dont take anything for granted in today's NBA...you cant take a night off, the competition is through the roof...and he got the job done better than most expected...

and to piggy back off what you said, Mo Cheeks deserves some votes for the coaching job he got done in Philly...

Both have 6 categories significantly up from the previous year...pretty much evenly matched, but when you get to points per game, Rudy has the bigger jump (all in less minutes), IMO that clinches it...but if Turk won it, I would have no gripes...

Kobe wins this...Never been a Jordan fan...Never really been a Kobe fan due to his attitude/peronality on and off the court...but pure basketball, he is the second coming of Jordan no matter what way you add it up...He's accomplished everything in the West this year obviously with the needed supporting cast...best record in the West...Kobe wins it...correct me if I'm wrong, Kobe has never won this award...

Durant...numbers game here, yeh he wins it...but Horford adding that much to a playoff team, averaging almost a double-double in his rookie season...is sick...and yes, I remember you talking about Horford and I remember how I was saying you and everyone else was overrating the kid...I was definitely wrong...Horford is a beast at his age...(yo jeff, DR baby...)

No way EJ is winning it but I definitely see your perspective...its almost the same concept as Aldeman for COY.... but yeh I would of liked seeing him stay as the head coach of the Nets, by far the better coach and right now he looks that much better...and dont forget Rutgers baby!...

I definitely agree w/ the above, it is a strong arguement...like I said, no problems with Turk winning...on Turk's game mind set alone, being the go to guy in the end of games for the Magic, I'd give him the award on that improvement...I just wanted Rudy to get his props as a soph on a non-playoff team...
