I for one am not optimistic about the future if we are staying with this group.
I wouldn't mind trying to put together a contender instead of blowing it up. Matter of fact I would rather he tries to put together a contender, but this core isn't a contender as is. It's a 42-48 win 1st to 2nd round playoff team, and that would be with some further bench help, at least the guys we have on the bench dramatically improving, or getting that chance to.

Our 3 bigs all have potential -- Nenad, Sean, Boone.
We have to restore the winning culture and professionalism.
Our playmaking still up in the air and worrying. Marcus looked like a better playmaker as a rookie. VC is our best playmaker right now ... and that's at more at the level of Lucious Harris.
Watching the playoffs, our defense discipline and organization is nothing near the level of any of the top-half playoff teams. Where the defenders all move and cover as one unit.

You're not really serious with this VC to Lucious playmaking abilities comparison are you?
Come on Dacher, you're better than that.

Oh by joker card I take it you mean sign Theo Ratliff to a one year deal, trade Marcus Williams for a second rounder who we never sign to save salary, don't resign Krstic or Boki and find no one decent to replace them and draft someone we never discussed at the 10 spot that turns into a major bust while 6 future franchise stars went after our pick that the whole B Ball world was talking about?
Yeah, I'm down.

Remember when he basically all the time said Kidd wasn't going to be traded ? I don't believe anything until it's 100% for sure .
And if he can aquire a scoring big for cheap ( don't ask me who and for what ) why not keep RJ and Vince for example .

We know this they can operate as normal as long as they do not go over the LTT. Which means rebuild on the fly. Which means we are going to try and be competitive.
Also, we know that Thorn didnt like RJ defense. Hopefully the add at least two defensive minded players.

well see what we need is a big that can step up offensively because i realized when RJ has to carry the load he isn't locked in defensively, what we also need is big tough defenders in the paint i think a guy like diop might be leaving because hes so soft, i think boki's gonna be taking the walk too.
needed:
- post presence
- tough interior defender
- wicked nice shooter off the bench

Thorn has a great relationship with other GM's and has friends in high places in the NBA front office...I can definitely see Thorn improving this team with a trade out of left field...

Agreed.

Vince Carter may not have Jason Kidd around to help him anymore, but he is still good enough to get the Nets back into the playoffs, team president Rod Thorn said Monday. As long as someone else helps Carter, that is.
Thorn said he thinks only two players in the league can carry a team - LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. However, Thorn feels that Carter still has the skills - and the drive - to get the Nets to where they want to be, back in the postseason.
"It's not a matter of can he carry a team?" Thorn said. "Can he be the first or second best player on a good team? Definitely."
Sounds like a sale's pitch to me.

Everybody agrees that we need a post pressence. I do not agree with any attempts to get JO at this point. Brand makes sense with his salary albeit for one year.
having the ability to play defense and the rebounding will help us a great deal!
Hopefully, they will address this off-season.

I dont think so, Daily News version didnt mention the comments about the RJ defense part of the conference. When you read between the lines that tells me that they are secretly down on him at this point.
It would be easier for the management to put pieces around Carter style of play.

^ It was a joke.
At this point no one knows what is in Thorn's head. He might trade both of them for all we know.
At this point, I am tired and dont really care about who should stay or go. All I am hoping and praying for right now is can we move up in the draft.

Move up for whom?
Kobe, LB and CP has already been drafted.
That was joke!!!!!!!!

The only keepers are Carter and Harris, because that is a solid backcourt right there. Everyone else has to be considered expendable in our efforts to secure some post presence and outside shooting.

SSSHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Dont let that out!!!!!!!!!! It will start another VC or RJ debate which is exhausting.

I don't see what there is to debate about here, both are bald and have receding hairlines

I think you guys should trade RJ..

This summer's gotta be about getting a credible big man. Sucking at C-PF for yet another season is just creating another ride down Mediocrity Lane.
