Flip Saunders?

Post#1 » by Pugsley_2491 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 11:10 pm

If Detroit collapses, is he finished as the Pistons coach? If he is, what are your thoughts on bringing him in as coach. I feel as though he's be perfect for us since he gives the players a lot of freedom and actually plays young guys.

Thoughts?

I never liked Flip... I wouldn't mind Flip though... However it should be noted that he didn't play the Pistons young players much until this year...

Even if he does get fired and is available, the Nets are in no hurry to get rid of Lawrence Frank. Frank will be the Nets coach for at least one more season before there is a chance that he gets fired.

No FLOP Saunders for me.

This guy lacks something.

How can your team struggle against the 76ers?

Let the Cleveland Lebron beat you last year.

Come on this guy isnt the answer.

Flip Saunders is a douche bag.

Signed, a Pistons fan.

You don't want him. There is a lot of speculation that the Pistons don't listen to him and that they only listen to Dumars.

Flip has had some pretty good teams and done nothing with them.

The Nets would be a great fit for Tom Thibadeau (Celtics associate head coach) or Avery Johnsons' next gig.

Hmm.
Does this sound eerily familiar to someone we know guys?

No thanks.
He's like the black Lawrence Frank.

Guy's I'm resigned to the fact that we as fans can't win.

If the players revolt and start losing and playing incoherently to make Frank look bad. We the fans will suffer through all the losing (and another lost season)

If the players tune Frank out do thier own thing and win games Frank will look a genius and Thorn will give him another contract extension. Again we the fans suffer through Frank being around.

I for one am more interested in the off season i.e who we gonna sign?, who we gonna let go? and who we gonna draft/trade. Other than Frank's poor coaching.
Can Frank coach the kids?

In both Minnesota and Detroit Flip Saunders coaching ability & desire has been questioned.

I'm more in favour of losing L. Frank because he seems to have lost the team's ear and he said as much in the off season blaming himself for not getting the Nets to play the way he wanted them too. He's a hardworker, good X's and O's guy but his in-game decision making (lineup/substitions/minutes) has alot to be desired (even though one can argue he doesn't exactly have the best pieces) and I think he over coaches also.

I'd rather have Frank than Flip though. I have no problem seeing Frank next season but he (and the Nets players) should be on a very short least next year. Another lethargic start should not be accepted by Mgmt.

If Dallas ends next game & Avery is fired I really don't think he's an upgrade over Frank either.

I still like Larry Brown (going to Charlotte...) and Mark Jackson (perhaps a NY Knick...).

The shocking news to me is Ewing. He wants to be a head coach now but I don't think he's really ready...he's a big name though but it doesn't even seem his own NY Knicks are biting. How many C's have been good coaches ? You would think naturally PG's would make the best head coaches but it doesn't seem to play out that way...

I really don't like Larry Brown . He will command an insane amount of money , tons of veteran players on his team ( and trade youngs for ) , is a diva and somewhere down the road will quit on the team . And then you wasted a lot of money .

A excellent suggestion, Tom T is the Defensive Coach on the Celtics coaching staff and they have the # 1 defense this year.
The "Turnpike" deserve a NBA championship!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I disagree.

Avery doesnt kiss his star's a$$es. He is a tough former player that played under one of the best coaches in the NBA and was an assistant to another hall of fame coach.

That said I dont want him here. Him and Harris dont see eye to eye.

Agreed.

They will give Frank a chance, but once there is an early losing streak, OPIE is done. That BS about finding the right lineups $hit is old.

Hopefully Jordan is available.

Eh...we just had a big trade. Thorn will likely sugarcoat his mistakes again even if Frank still blames himself. This is probably the biggest area where I'm not a fan of Thorn's. Damn Frank...
