Piston fan here, just curious what the Nets are plannning this offseason with their big men.

Is Kristic healthy and will he get a big extension?
Are you keeping Diop? Do you think he is worth the MLE?
I think you got a steal getting Sean Williams at 17 last year. Not likely, but is he available?

Media rumor mill said Diop is probably gone -- salary reasons.

Kristic hasn't been healthy -- slow recovery from torn ACL. He will get better, but we don't know if he'll ever even return to his old peak.

I don't know if Sean is available. He seemed to hit the rookie wall, and was in the coaches doghouse at the end of the season. Actually I'm sure he's not available. The way this team is pinching pennies and losing money, they aren't going to give up a #17 rookie salary, who's chock full of potential.

Diop has alot of potential, don't worry about the fact he's in like his 8th season, he never got the playing time to excel.

If I'm Dumars, I'd be looking around at deals to try to get the front line a little younger, and Kristic, Diop and Williams would be on the radar, if acquired at the right price.

You guys should have an interesting offseason - good move to switch in Harris for Kidd, although you still need to make a few more moves to make the transition to a contender again.

Disagree. Nenad has post moves. Turn-around jumper. Face-up jumper. Running semi-hook. Baseline spin move. Up and under move. Baby hook. People forget that he was our best player against Indiana a few years ago. We wouldn't have gotten past them if not for him. We pretty much ran our offense through him for several games in that series once he got going, and that's against a pretty good defender in Jeff Foster. Problem is that he wasn't strong enough, so he would get pushed around in the post. He is also not a great finisher. But considering the lack of legit post scoring big men in the NBA, Nenad does well enough in that regard to be considered a post threat. He just happens to have a legit range on his jumpshot.

Sean I also think has an under-rated post offense, but he's still very raw in that regard. Another off-season and I can see him being a decent option down there.

Heres the real question. Are the Nets looking to rebuild or are the Nets looking to compete?

Kidd trade says rebuild, keeping Carter and Jefferson while switching the similar contracts of Jason Collins and Stormile Swift says compete. Well, Swift not so much...but you get the idea.

That's a good question. Kiki did a great job in overhauling Denver when he was there, but Rod Thorn also hates to rebuild. My opinion is that it will be neither. I think the team will retool. I think it will be difficult to find a taker for Carter, and let's face it, as long as he's here, and with Harris' extension kicking in next season, even if RJ is traded for expiring deals, it will be tough to completely rebuild.

Krstic isn't fully healthy but he is close and he's shown flashes of his old ability. Personally I would like to sign and trade him to a good team that could use him off the bench or as a 4th/5th starter next to a defensive PF/C. He shouldn't be too pricey and he offers a lot of upside as well as a minimal downside IMO.

He'd be a great addition to some teams, the Pistons probably being one of them. BTW, his defense is underrated (probably because he's European). While most people say his defense is bad it is actually average to above average.

Only reason I'd like him traded is because I don't think he is the long term solution for the Nets and I would like the Nets to rebuild aiming for young big men with the potential to be stars.

Diop is likely gone. There is no reason for him to want to stay. He's probably worth around the MLE and he is definitely a guy you want on your team.

Sean Williams is not available IMO.

It seems you want to trade people just for the sake of making trades, and you're picking the wrong players to let go.

I want no part in him on this team unless we were looking to stay in the mix, make a big trade and try to become a contender again.
Even then he is worth no more than maybe 9 mill for 3 years absolute max.

Also, I would love to get Wilcox even if we do a big time trade, especially if we had to give up Boone, S.Will and/or Krstic.
He would be an excellent option to start next to a Brand or JO.
He turns 26 this September, so he is very young and has only started 2 and a half seasons.
This guy already puts up respectable #'s, in limited minutes, and is starting to develope a decent post game.
He is one of those guys that has been in this league for a while but actually still hasn't even come close to hitting his plateau.
A lot of true potential.
Plus he is a legit 6'10 with a long wingspan, with some weight to throw around.
I'm not saying he is going to be a true star, but a very legit guy to trade for if he comes on the cheap.
Say Swift and the 21st pick.
I doubt that would be enough to get him though.

Ridnour is good enough to start for alot of teams, is still young himself and has a pretty cheap contract for only 2 more years.

He's expiring so not much commitment , it's not like we'd be giving up much in that trade anyway or get long term bargains.

im not saying he dosnt have post moves, but his game is more like Dirk Nowitski, but by no means is Kristic a DOMINATE post player.......

Krstic will never be a star. At his best he is a good starter or great 6th man.

I want him traded because he is going to require money I don't want to commit. My idea of where I want this team to go is the lottery for two more years (at least one then perhaps a slim playoff berth), and then free agency right after that. I want guys on rookie contracts or very affordable deals that need to be addressed only after that free agency period.

I want the team to develop long term players like Sean Williams and other rookies we bring in. Krstic takes away minutes from those guys, and I don't think his contract situation will allow us to keep him long term for a reasonable price, which would eliminate the possibility of free agency.

Krstic is the most talented low-post player on this team.

I would love to see him get another shot here, if we can sign him to something reasonable.
