Please GOD let this happen!

As much as I want this to happen, I know it won't. Ratner's too hell-bent on keeping the Nets and going to Brooklyn. It would be refreshing to have a new owner though and not investors. I want a basketball owner that's 50% Nets basketball and 50% Nets businesses. Right now we have an owner that's 100% business and left any other basketball related matters to the President and his assistant which severely limits his spending anyway.

In other words, I want a fan of the Nets who knows everything about the business aspects of the NBA to be our owner. I hate to say this, but someone like...Mark Cuban. Or Michael Jordan...there, that sounds better.

Ratner is in the process of building the defining development of his life. There is no way he sells the primary thing that helps him get that built.

NJ will lose the Nets . If the Brooklyn move completely fails they're going somewhere else but they don't stay in New Jersey .

New Jersey had it's chance and failed.

Although the Nets are most likely going to Brooklyn, if that falls through they will wind up at the Rock in Newark.
Believe it.

Edit:This is because, among other things, I feel there is absolutley no way Ratner keeps the Nets if his Brooklyn deal falls through, whether completely or just the arena.
I'm sure he would sell to the highest bidder, but bset believe there are numerous groups from NJ that want to buy the Nets, before this article ever came out.

As long as Stern is still there New Jersey won't keep the Nets . He stated NJ has had his opportunity and failed . He's not going to approve them to stay.

If the Nets were to stay in Jersey... I don't know how I'd feel, I one hand I'd like it since they'd still be the "New Jersey Nets" on the other hand that proposed stadium in Brooklyn looks ridiculous =}...

I'd rather they stayed in NJ but whatever is best for us is OK with me. I just hope they keep the name the "Nets" either way.

Has anybody been to the Prudential center yet? I keep hearing good things about it from everybody that went there.

Jersey is a dead end for a basketball franchise. You can talk all you want about wanting a basketball team in Jersey but the best thing for the Nets is a move to Brooklyn. The fanbase will grow exponentially. Players will want to play on a good team in NYC. It is a built in market advantage and this would allow them to spend whatever is necessary to field a good team, while being the talk of the Eastern Conference. This is a golden opportunity, especially if the Nets start accruing top young talent now.

Every Nets fan in Jersey should realize that this move would be great for the franchise, and I doubt the new Arena is much further away from you than the old one. Besides, everyone knows Jersey is just a part of New York anyways.

See but that's just wrong, the reason the Nets are struggling as far as tickets go isnt because they're in NJ its because they're stuck at the single worst arena in the league its stuck its surrounded by a fricking swamp for crying out loud.
The Devil's attendance skyrocketed the second they moved to Newark what makes you think the Nets who are playing a much more popular sport wont have the same sucsess should they move to Newark.

Now dont get me wrong Im not against the Brooklyn arena (Id take anything over the Izod center) but the Nets are in all likleyhood stuck because of Rathner's legal problems with the Atlantic yards so I really cant see why at least for now the team shouldnt move to Newark.

On top of this, if people think ticket and beverage prices are astounding know, wait till they move to Brooklyn.
You'll feel like someone kicked you in the balls with a horseshoe everytime you purchase a beer or dog.

yeh he has voiced this more than once...and thats with him talking from Secaucus...I still feel the arena had a lot to do with it...playing at the Rock would be huge a difference compared to the Meadowlands...so IMO, Ratner has Stern in his back pocket because we all know the type of market Brooklyn can bring...there just isnt any better real estate for an NBA team...

but I still like to see this movement fall on its face...sorry, always thought they were gonna end up in Newark...regardless of the postives the Nets will have across the river, its difficult to view them as a NY team...

Brooklyn was never simple to begin with, and there are roadblocks up everywhere they turn...we shall see...
