Ok.
This is a highly speculative trade idea.

First off, I am not sure what Seattle's plans are in general or for Ridnour and Wilcox.
So this would be assuming that they don't value them that highly in comparison to this package of salary relief and young talent.
Granted Ridnour and Wilcox are just that, young talent.
This is also based on things such as what pick they get in the draft.
Anywhoo..........

This trade is also based on the assumption that Rod has taxed all avenues within his powers to aquire a big man, big man and is either going to proceed ahead with the current roster, or make a shake up trade of RJ for random highly skilled SF...........

NJ sends:
KVH
Swift
Marcus Williams
future 1st(can't give up the 21st, because this wouldn't be a draft night deal in all probability)

Seattle sends:
Wilcox
Ridnour

Why for NJ:
We get a nice young PF on the last year of a very very reasonable contract.
Even if we lose him to FA, it's not like we lose anyone but Swift, who we would have let walked after this season anyway.
Ridnour is a very nice replacement for Marcus, a more legit backup, who realistically could start for numerous teams.
And if some sort of blockbuster came up at the deadline for Brand, and they demanded let's say Harris and not VC or RJ, it makes him alot easy to trade.

Why for Seattle:
If they are even interested in cap relief for this year(I guess that would ultimatlely depend on if they value Wilcox and Ridnour) they get it with KVH's non-guarenteed contract.
They get a 1st rounder for Wilcox, along with a slightly less expensive contract in Swift(500 grand), who is also a stop gap player off the bench.
It opens up more playing time for the likes of Collison, Jeff Green, Petro and Robert Swift if he is ever healthy, along with whoever they draft it that said player is a PF or C.
They can even have the possibility to trade Swift at the deadline for a 2nd rounder or a young prospect if they felt the need, ala Kurt Thomas this season.
They then get a very nice prospect in Marcus to replace Ridnour, who is cheaper, and affords them the option to pass up on Bayless and draft a different position if they don't get a 1 or 2 pick and go with Rose.
Especially if they get the 3 pick and don't want Bayless and go with Mayo, Gallinari or the best big man prospect, etc.

Hmm I'm not sure about Wilcox quality to be honest he's just played on pretty terrible teams and never seen a playoff game yet BUT since he's expiring he's worth a try . Ridnour's a pretty solid backup and also expiring in 2010 so i would do it .

BUT would Seattle/OKC do it ? They don't really get much from us since Wilcox and Ridnours contracts aren't very long anymore.

If you add this year's second round pick they might bite on Ridnour.
Doubt they'd give up Wilcox but new owners for the Sonics=fresh fish for Rod to reel in.

Wilcox put up good numbers 13.5 Pts 7 boards 53% FG with only 28 minutes per game

Don't care about the Sonics, but I sure hope they aren't part of our future. We aren't going to get anywhere by trading for mediocre talent. At this point the Nets have to step backwards to go forwards in the future.

Even if we are rebuilding I'll take Wilcox in a heartbeat if he comes on the cheap.
He could trun into a very legit big man, and is already very solid.

And let me add he is better than all of the big men the Nets have right now NO question about that

We've discussed getting Wilcox approximately 1.3 million times at this point.

Why does Seattle trade Ridnour, again?

Actually no one has brought up Wilcox since basicaly last season.

The only think in seattle's future plan is Durant, Green and leaving seattle

so they can be had.

I think it's a fair package value wise for Ridnour and Wilcox, but I do not think this is a move the Nets should make. I like Wilcox and have supported trading for him in the past, but at this point I don't think the upgrade is big enough to justify the cost, considering our resources.

Maybe I'm being pessimistic about this team, but I don't think a lineup of Harris, Carter, Jefferson, Wilcox and Boone with a bench of Ridnour, Hassell, S. Williams, Krstic and pick #10 is getting out of the first round of the playoffs or a top 6 team in the East.

If that's the case, I don't think it's worth trading a young PG, a pick in the 15-20 range and more than $12 million in contracts before even taking into account the cost of keeping Wilcox past this year.

What price?

His contract is cheaper then Swift's and it's almost certain you're not finding a better player than Wilcox at the 21st or in next years draft around the same pick.

In my opinion he is an upgrade over a semi-scared, Nenad who is comign off an injury that he may never recover from.
Hell, we might not even resign Curly.

He is lightyears ahead of Sean Will, on the court and mentally.

Boone he might not be better then, but their skill sets aren't even close to similar.

Wilcox has developed somewhat of a nice post game, and has a decent jumper out to about 14.

Boone strictly scores off of putbacks and open dunks and layups off of cuts and double teams(if he even finishes it).

Wilcox is very athletic as well and has a serious NBA big man frame, although he still hasn't fully learned how to utilize it on either end of the floor.

I think you are relying way to heavy on their numbersm and not on the facets of the game they bring with them.

You know, with Frank coaching this team, and our terrible bench, I think we all realize a championship isn't currently within our grasp.
But if Rod isn't going to blow it up and keeps the roster very similar it would be great to have Wilcox starting next to Boone.
