Awesome article, too bad the guys who cover the Nets in this area don't write the truth about how this man has been dragging this team down.

Thorn looks absolutely stupid right now with every win the Hornets get in the playoffs.

For the love of God NEVER bring up Byron Scott EVER again. HE HAD TO GO. The Nets fired him at the right time, as a result Byron was humbled (sort of, he's still pretty stuck up) and was forced to change his coaching style.

I appreciate what Byron did for the Nets but you can't keep one coach forever. Especially when he doesn't get along with your top three players...

We actually went 11-20 after the trade.

Why doesn't anyone understand this is a star's league? When a guy in charge isn't in rebuilding and is faced with the choice of letting go his star player(s) or his coach, it's usually the coach that gets the boot?

I agree with you. He had to go. HOF player always wins over Up and Coming Coach.

As far as coaching style, what did he change?

I do remember reading an article that said he was confused with reports of the way he coached. He said that he used techniques (managing assistants) that other head coaches he had worked with used, but his methods were too laid back.

thanks for the comments guys. If you can post some of these comments on the actual page, it'd be appreciated. Byron Scott was brought up because of the comments Chris Paul made. A major gripe I have of Frank is that he doesn't demand the respect necessary at this level, IMO.

Stupid article , i really hate these idiots bashing on Jason Collins . He may be horrible offensively but ( sadly ) he has been our only consistent big next to a healthy Krstic and has been great on D .

Hate him as much as you want but with the guys we had he had to play.

And that Swift trade btw was a mistake once Swift picks up his play option . He may put up better stats but is by far more useless .

What I meant was that he's changed as a person. There was a nice interview on ESPN before where Byron talked about how he's better at keeping his ego in check now. Overall he just seems to have matured since leaving New Jersey... Even if he still does have some brainfarts (as evidenced by the Jerry Stackhouse incident).

Byron is a good coach, he's a better coach in New Orleans than he was with his time with the Nets, but I'm just tired of people bringing him up time and time again.

The page on the Byron Scott era has been turned over and over again. So I think it's time we just put the topic to rest.

Byron Scott is a very good coach! his one mistake with us is not putting Kittles in the game sooner in game 6 of the finals with the spurs.

Because the Roster has been horrible and Thorn feels he's more responsible for this year then Frank is .

And to be honest with you i agree with that this team has just been build poorly and never really had a chance without a motivated Kidd .

Let's face it FRANK SUCKS!!!!!!

My honest opinion ? Yes it is . We have 3-4 good players that can hit shots consistently and play good defense .

Thats not going to cut it. There are day when all 3-4 guys have a good game and we win but if thats not the case there's not much chance for this team because whats comming of the bench isn't consistent enough to shoulder some of the scoring.

I'm not the biggest Frank fan but I do have to agree with the above point.
Although Frank must take some of the blame (poor rotations, micromanaging the team, losing the team's ear as he admitted, the questionable handling of young guys like Marcus & SWat although Boone seems to be a godsend for now) this team is just constructed in an unbalanced way that doesn't maximize a team's chance for consistent success.

The Nets "strength" is in their smaller positions:
SG - 10th best PER (of the 30 teams)
SF - 14th best...
PG - 16th best...
PF - 25th best...
C - dead last

So other than SG & SF position the rest of the team's productivity is worse than half of the league and the two power positions are at the bottom of the league so there's no balance on the team but everyone and their mother (happy mother's day) has known this for years but Thorn and company has tried to address it (shown interest in Jermaine O'Neal before his most recent injury, drafted Boone, drafted SWat, until this pass dissapointing off season had Krstic solidly in the future plans, picked up Diop & Swift even if only for a brief stint).

If the Nets go into next season with this unbalanced roster again then expect a 0.500 or worse team again unless their is growth within (if they resign Krstic & he becomes productive on both ends of the court again, if Boone continues to improve, if SWat's growth/minutes improve, etc).

The frontcourt doesn't even have to be very productive, just near average compared to the rest of the league and I think the Nets could be a good team.

Lawrence Frank is one of the Top 5 worst coaches in the league.

Agreed.

Sam Mitchell is arguably better the Frank too.

Atleast Mitchell tries to involve his young players. We were a better team last year that is why we won that playoff series.
