It is a rumor. It is probably not going to happen. Denver probably doesn't want to trade Melo at all. Thorn initiated talks. If you look at all the rumors, it is pretty apparent that he is talking to every one trying to figure out what is available at what price.

yeh I agree^^^...its nice to know he's trying to be creative...I dont see an angle the Nets could pry Melo from Denver...but I like in theory...

Yeah, but I don't think it's entirely out of the question for Denver wanting to rid of him. I commented on this yesterday.

Rich Rane wrote:Well coming from an owner's perspective, Kroenke's paying the third highest luxury tax in the league and his team got the 8th seed. You've got Golden State right there behind them and a huge upcoming team in Portland. Can it really get any better for the Nuggets? With how weak the East still is, Denver's probably not going to get lower than a 14th overall pick as most of those East teams will be taking those higher spots in the lottery.

Now I don't agree that trading Melo is the real goto move, but should he trade Melo AND Camby, AI probably will opt out. That's three of four of their highest contracts. (Plus there's also the small possibility Denver could just use the Allan Houston rule on AI to get under the luxury tax and purposely suck.

I understand the salary angle but even then, Denver could do better than Jefferson and the #10 pick for Camby and Melo, as you agree. A lot of people forget that just because a rumor develops it doesn't mean there is any real momentum behind it. I just want to make that clear to the people who refer to the Melo rumor as if the team could just decide to do it, and its done.

this is a very talented draft, i would NOT trade the 10th pick there are great players out there... infact i wouldn't mind trading players from the roster for picks from 1-20
