Bustnani? WTF

Post#1 » by etopn23 » Wed May 21, 2008 4:52 am

(Wiretap)http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/52620/20080520/nets_trying_to_acquire_bargnani/
The New Jersey Nets appear to be active on the rumor mill, with GM Ron Thorn believed to be in discussions with many teams, the Newark Star-Ledger is reporting.

According to columnist Dave D'Alessandro, the Nets have made some cursory inquiries with Phoenix (about Boris Diaw and Leandro Barboso), more substantive discussions with Toronto (about Andrea Bargnani), and there has been some dialogue with Denver about Carmelo Anthony.

WTF. How would Bargnani fit into our system? He doesn't play defense, he can't rebound - all he can do is shoot.

As a Raptors fan, I can confirm that he doesn't know how to shoot as well.

I was going through the Raptor board on this topic. I still have no idea how they want RJ and picks for him.

I would like to clarify a misconception about Bargnani.

Firstly, he can shoot the ball. He gets solid rotation on the ball, and when it's dropping, it's very smooth.

His problem is he's very inconsistent, and plays timid and scared. Whenever he plays with confidence, he plays really well. When he plays without confidence, his game is very very depressing.

It's up to him to put it all together now. Maybe a change of scenery could be good for him. He definitely shows a lot of promise, unlike a real bust like Hoffa.

he's good. Just what the Nets need. If I were Thorn, I'd get Bargnani.

As a Raptors fan, I would like to tell you that Bargs can still be a great player in this league.
He was excellent in his first year, and really struggled this last year.
But his skill set is still amazing. He's potentially unguardable, or at least a huge matchup problem, being too tall to be guarded by 6-5 types, and too quick with too fast a first step, and with too good a shot to be guarded by 7-0 types. To become this huge matchup problem, he needs to develop a better inside game, and punish smaller opponents when he gets the chance. He has shown signs of doing this, but very inconsistently, but hey, he's 22. And he's an excellent shooter when he is patient and doesn't rush shots. Anyways, I just think that he would be an excellent pickup for your team, and that especially with the guidance of Lawrence Frank instead of Smitch, he can be a very very solid, if not excellent, player in this league.

we already have a player with no confidence so we know how that goes. (marcus williams) we dont need more of the same frustration. Besides, on a more subjective note, I don't like players like bargnani. He's unathletic, plays no D. he's just tall, skinny and shoots 3's. He doesn't have the skill or athleticism to really take advantage of his physical specs which is why I figured he would be a bust right from the start.

No no no no no no no no no no no!

Look I understand we're looking to shake things up that's cool and its even a good thing however this is just terrible!

This is along the lines of the LAL Kwame for Caron Butler trade, you dont trade one of your core players for a proven first round bust just because he has some potential.

I'm all for trading RJ (I love him but unfortunately it has to be done Im afraid) but Andrea (btw he has a girl's name) isnt the answer.
For RJ I expect a future star or an elite player.

And just for the record since we all know that Frank is still gonna be here next year that alone automatically means that we have zero talent development skills, look at Sean even when he was making strides he somehow found a way to enter Frank's "last man on the bench hell".

Tell the Raptors to keep their garbage!!! Bargarbagenani is one of the worst top 2 picks in the last 10 years.

If we trade RJ for Bargnani in any trade that doesn't involve us bringing Chris Bosh back - I will officially become a Knicks fan.

I do agree that Anrea is shaping up to be a redicolous bust however calling him the worst top 2 pick in the last 10 years is a bit too much dude, Id take him over Brown anyday and besides no one is officially a bust for life until they reach their 3rd year and keep on sucking

Yeah Im with him Im willing to sacrafice some expiring contracts but that's as far as it goes for me, trading RJ for him is downright insane.

Like someone said before, everyone in the Raptor forum is talking RJ for Bargnani, and they are serious about it. What kind of value do they think he has?

How do you guys like this trade (if RJ for Bargs rumor is true)

RJ

for

Bargs, Kapono, Garbajosa, & a 1st.

I would try to get Moon instead of Garbajosa, but its not the same management who traded VC to us. We get Bargs, (I don't know why we need him but ok) Kapono who could be that knock em' down shooter that we desperately need, Garbajosa (a filler), and their 1st. What do you guys think?

Come on, Andrea just had a second year slump, new position, injuries, etc, and should bounce next year. Some of you probably don't even know who he is, and are just commenting based on the posts of some of the Andrea haters. For some strange reason, I feel he would shine playing his natural position PF for you guys.

I must admit, he's a bit strange... but he's NOT a bust, he's one of those guys you nurture, and not your typical NBA ready Tim Duncan or LeBron James. This is his second year, passing judgment on him so early and declare him this and that is simply being naive. This kid is special, trust me... and I really don't think BC will trade him anyways. Yes, I understand: Fans and GM/Management see things in a different way than the "fans", so bare that in mind.

For those who have not seen him play or don't know him (his first year in the league): http://youtube.com/watch?v=I7wCvhipZm8

But if we do end up trading him to you guys... would you also accept the following user(s): AndreaBustnani, garbagnani in exchange for the user NetsForce? (He's a good GFX artists, and would be a good asset).

This trade has to go down, if only because of the existential crisis that poor NetsForce will have to endure.
