I haven't read all the variations of your Carmelo and Carmelo/Camby deals, but if a Carmelo deal costs you Marcus Williams, or if Swift is a changable expiring in a Carmelo-Camby deal, this tiny deal might polish your side a bit.
NJN GETS: Buckner ($4 mil exp) + Telfair
MIN GETS: Stromile Swift ($6 mil exp) and future 2nd
Why for NJN? The Nets keep a close eye on the lux, particularly after this deal, and this trade allows them to get a back-up PG without adding salary this year, and without losing production.
Swift will get little play time with Krstic, S Williams-or-Josh Boone, Diop (?) and then adding Camby?!?. Buckner provides a bench perimeter defender, but most of his value is as an expiring. He could stay or go top DEN to be bought out, replacing Swift's expiring. If Marcus Williams gets dealt, Telfair can back-up Devin Harris. He finally showed something in MIN when he got used to the team, and if he goes to the Nets, when they move to Brooklyn, Telfair goes home to draw in more fans.
Why for MIN? I think either McCants or Telfair eventually needs to go if we draft Mayo .. there just isn't enough minutes, particularly since Jaric and Brewer can also play SG. If it's going to be Telfair, I think he's shown enough to have just a little bit of value to the right team. In that case, MIN would be trading a $4 mil expiring we won't be using and a $2 mil TPE for a $6 mil expiring that can play minutes at center. I don't expect great things out of Swift, but it'd give him a chance he's not going to get in New Jersey, so maybe he'd do something .. he used to be an athletic freak. Even if he does nothing, a $6 mil expiring would have trade value at the deadline .. maybe worth the additional $2 mil MIN would be taking on this year.
