If no pf is there do we trade the pick?

Do the Nets trade the pick if Kevin Love is not available and either is Lopez (Kristic can play the 4) or Arthur is not there do they trade the pick?

Odds are 1 of the 3 will be there so which 1 do you guys want?

I personally want Love. There is no reason why the Nets should not continue to play there fastbreak offense. Harris can do it and RJ and Carter clearly can and they still have alot of athletes. When are they gonna get a new coach though? Are they just waiting for Lebron to come to take it serious?

I like Love but I doubt we'll trade up to get him

My guy is Speights. I'm fine either taking him at #10 (trust me he'll boost his status before the end of the workout schedules) or trade down for the 13-15 range and take him if we think he'll still be at the pick we trade to. That will also give us something else in return for trading down as well. Maybe like a 2nd round pick that we can package with #40 to trade up into late first round or early 2nd. Just some thoughts.

Well we could trade up but i don't know i haven't seen the workouts i trust the managment to make the right decision with the Picks .

I don't trust Rod when it comes to FA's but the other parts i completely trust him.

Someone give me the scouting report on Speights, I personally have been leaning towards Gallinari (sp?) at the #10 if he's there (while it's always tempting to go "big" I don't think the Nets HAVE TO go big with the #10 given the assets they have).

I've always assumed Gallinari won't be there personally.

That is his write up and some articles from draft express. If we get him, I'm gonna love life. I live in the south and hate ACC basketball. I pay pretty close attention to the Big East (I grew up in a St. Johns/Rutgers household) and got pretty into the SEC when I came south for college. I've seen Speights a ton and really think he's be a great asset on the Nets. I know he's gonna move up some from his workouts and I want him at 10 personally if we go big. No other big that will be realistically available at 10 impresses me but him.

I still think Speights is too high to pick with the 10. Some mocks have us even passing him with our 21st.

A lot of these mocks are full of it. I've seen some from "experts" having him go as high as 9...and some having him fall into the 2nd round. Love and Beasely too me are the only can't miss big men in the draft. I think Brook Lopez is overrated and I don't want to touch Jordan with a 30' pole. I think he's gonna end up more like Kendrick Perkins (who is only a starter because they have nobody else to guard the 5) rather than Dwight Howard. Speights has impressed every team he's worked out for, and of all the guys in the draft, is the best big man for our system. He can defend the 4 very well, has range in the 16'-18' area and can run the floor if needed. I don't want a project (see: Jordan and McGee), I'd settle for Arthur (who will get outmuscled by bigger guys) and Love and Beasely are pipe dreams.

I've mentioned a few times that I think we can trade down for the 13-15 range to get him. Mark my words though he won't fall past 15 come draft night.

You merely brought up draftexpress and I'm just summarizing what they believe.

Agreed on Beasly. I hate Kevin Love.

I think Brook Lopez is overrated

I think both twins are.

and I don't want to touch Jordan with a 30' pole. I think he's gonna end up more like Kendrick Perkins (who is only a starter because they have nobody else to guard the 5) rather than Dwight Howard.

You know how both of us stand on this one.

I'll hold you to this. I don't think I'd call you out on it if he did fall passed 15 though. Hell, if we took him with the 21st, then maybe, but only because I'd be happy we took him with the 21st.

I respect all your comments here actually, except for bringing up the link I posted. I just put the Draftexpress one there because they had the most articles about him to get a feel for him. Again though, I watch a lot of SEC basketball because I hate the ACC and have liked this guy every game I've seen him. He'd be top 6-8 easy next year if he stayed in school.

Nah you're more than welcome to call me out too. Even make an entire thread devoted to it if he falls past 15. I'm making a bold prediction and I wouldn't have said it if I didn't expect flack if I was wrong.

Marreese Speights, Florida, forward/center, 6-10, 245 - ESPN's David Thorpe had a great line about Speights. He said he could be the next Al Jefferson in a couple years, or playing in Belgium.

Haha you could say that about half the guys in this draft. If I had to choose between Chad Ford and David Thorpe's analysis, I'd rather kill myself then pick which is better. I side with Chad more than David though.

The love suggestions are interesting. With love do you think he is ready to play a full 82 game schedule. Im suprised he might be the 2nd or 3rd big taken.

With Speights Im worry that certain teams make take him like IND or LAC.
