Did the Nets promise Robin Lopez at #10? (DraftExpress)

Another player who could crash the lottery unexpectedly and even shockingly go just one spot below his twin brother is Stanford center Robin Lopez. Lopez reportedly canceled all his remaining workouts (with the Pacers, Kings, Sixers, and more) with a supposed “sprained ankle” after working out for the New Jersey Nets this past week.

I'll go through the roof if we made a promise to Robin Lopez. Between Eric Gordon and Russell Westbrook, one of them is likely to fall to us. Could you imagine the Nets passing up Easy G for the weaker Lopez twin?

The article goes on to say...

Although the tenth pick is widely believed to be Danilo Gallinari’s, no one would know better about where the Italian small forward will get drafted than his agent Arn Tellem, who also happens to represent the Lopez twins. Robin being promised to go tenth (a speculatory rumor that is definitely making the rounds) almost surely means that Gallinari is going sixth to the Knicks.

Putting aside the fact that Gallinari would be a HUGE gamble for the Knicks at #6 and that R. Lopez should be going lower than #10, does anyone else find it hard to believe that the Nets and Knicks would both tie themselves down with promises? New York is trying to dump Zach Randolph and we're trying to move RJ. Why would either team tie up their best assets this way?

I still don't care how fast Robin is climbing the board. He is not what we need. Boone basically does everything Robin can do pretty much.

As for promises, I agree with some critics I've read. I don't think the Nets flat out gave anyone a promise. I think it's more like "look we're still looking to possibly package this pick, but if we keep it, and you're there, we'll take you. No guarantees but that's as close to a guarantee as you'll get from us."

As for Robin, I think they're probably trying to package RJ/#21 or Stro/Marcus/#21 and move up to a few spots to get a player and a higher pick. That's just my impression.

No need to get worked up. Doubt it's accurate.

Plz Lopez won't do anything that Sean Williams or Boone can't do, Randolph is who we should get at #10 if he is there and Roy Hibbert at #21

Ditto. If this isn't a pick setting up a trade (like Boone/other players), this is a wasted pick. Do I think Robin will be a serviceable big man in this league? Yes. Is he needed on our team? As long as we have Boone, I don't think so. I'd rather have us waste a pick on Augustin (not saying I think DJ sucks, it's just pointless to draft him and keep him with Harris on the team and if we don't move Marcus).

Even trading down the 13, I don't want to touch Robin. Right now if that trade happens, I'm praying Indiana takes him at 11.
