1. I like the trade. As much as it hurts to lose RJ, we're clearly going in a different direction, and salary cap relief + 2 seasons of Simmons + a tryout for last year's #5 pick in the draft is not bad value at all for Jefferson. It will piss me off, however, if bringing in Yi means we're giving up on Nenad.
2. Yeah, probably means we're taking a 3 there. Not too upset about that.
3. The "first rounder" is represented by Yi. We probably asked for the Bucks pick, they countered with asking for our pick, we countered with asking for Yi. Plus... we don't need another 1st rounder in this draft. It's weak regardless, we have a glut of youth with as of yet undefined roles and potentials- Boone, the 2 Williams, Ager, Harris, Nenad, Yi, plus the #10 pick. You do need to have some veterans.

4. No, Boki is as good as gone. Keeping him makes no sense at this point. Time to rebuild.

Will Vince be ok being "the guy" now in Jersey? That's my question. He was always playing under Kidd's shadow. Then trying to coexist with RJ was hard. Now it's RJ and a bunch of guys under like 26 years old. Can he elevate his game or will he get stressed because the media is only focusing on him and demand a trade out by the deadline?

Believe it or not, I think this is great for VC. His best stretch as a Net was the 30-40 game period after we picked him up from Toronto when RJ was out. VC and RJ never figured out how to play well together.

I agree I think it's great for Vince. I was just wondering how others felt. I still wish that we'd had one all-star caliber player (preferably a big man) on our roster.
With Yi coming in, I think we may start shopping Krstic around personally

I can live without the All-Star big man, our goal is not necessarily winning games in the 08-09 season, but development of our young talent.

I think this is neither a good or bad thing for Carter, but for the team it is a good situation for Carter. He really helps the big guys in pick/roll or pick/pop situations. I think it is a good situation in terms of developing talent. Carter has been nothing but a true professional on this team, so I'm really not worried about him.
As for Krstic, I was in favor of searching for a sign and trade before, and nothing has happened to change that. I see his future as a complimentary player on a good team and if I am the Nets I am not paying good money for that right now.
