interesting idea with the knicks

Stephon Marbury
Jamal Crawford
Wilson Chandler

for

Vince Carter
Marcus Williams
Josh Boone
Trenton Hassell
---
Marbury is expiring 21 mil
Jamal makes close to 8 mil and has a player option at the end of the year
Wilson chandler is a nice young prospect SF that could become a starter SF soon

what else do you want for VC.

im not sure if NY would do this but they get pass-first PG marcus williams running the point and marcus will never start on the nets so i would not be suprised if thats a possibility along with VC in getting their playoff hopes up.

also what if nachbar was involved s+t?

Nope I'll pass every day of the week. I don't want Starbury Part 2 in any way/shape/form

If David Lee isn't coming to us, I'll never listen to any off the Knicks offer us.

What exactly does this for us ? Nothing .

We don't get better talent , players and the money saved isn't that important anymore.

Don't even care about clearing 21 million if it makes Starbury Returns. I'd rather trade Vince to Portland for LaFrentz and Joel or to GSW for Harrington/TE or Vince for Sheed/Grande Meal From Taco Bell.

So we trade the best player in the deal and the best prospect? Nets say hell no.

I'd do it.
There really is no reason to keep Vince here now that we are 100% in rebuilding mode.
What will keeping Vince here do to us?
Get us a worse pick in the next lottery?
Get us to no man's land a.k.a 9th seed?
This deal will give us a bunch of cap space which seems to be the new goal for this franchise now that Thorn and Kiki gave up on being competitive.
Starbury doesnt even have to play in order to make this trade work out for the Nets.
The only question is if NY will agree to this.

No. People say there is no reason to keep Vince, but there is also no reason to trade him for nothing. Our salary cap is all set for the future, really. Unless we can get real assets then there is no reason to trade Carter.

Good Try Hav!!!!!!!

At his point the organization still need a player to draw tickets. Vince and Yi are main players. As prevously mention the cap space issue has already been taken care of.

Yes Nets Management is rebuilding but some people have taking that way to far.

RJ - got rid of his contract that was guaranteed to 2010
VC - contract is guaranteed to 2011
Devin - contracted ends 2012
Simmons - contract ends 2010
Yi - on rookie contract and if he plays well the Nets have all the power to resign

they likely won't extend any new contracts past 2010 (ex. Krstic)

So the Nets will have the money already to go after the 2010 free agent class (Lebron, Wade, Bosh, etc) and as a fan that should be sufficient.

Why then would a fan want the Nets to dump even more salaries (esp. VC) because those savings are going right to Ratner's pockets and aren't going to be passed on to you in lower ticket prices. Heck the Nets organization will already make even more money for themselves on Yi's acquisition and the increased market potential it brings.

Do you think Devin Harris would appreciate the Nets Management bringing over Stephon Marbury ? Do you think Stephon would want to play behind Devin ? Josh Boone just had a great year for the Nets and is on a rookie contract and you just want to give him away for more capspace that the Nets don't need. Do you think Nets fans (even knowing the organization is rebuilding) would be happy to trade away VC for someone they already know in Stephon. It is likely the Nets will struggle next year but you still need to keep fans interested in your product and at least give them promise.
Also I'd rather have Devin & VC showing these young guys how to play the game then Stephon & Crawford.
Finally, you would be trading VC/Boone/Marcus to a division rival.

Just all around awful trade for the Nets and their fans.
This is a Donald Sterling type of trade.
yeah, so I think I would pass.

I'd rather not create a losing environment / a loser's mentality in all of the young players on the Nets...

But trading with the Knicks would give you just that. :-?
