A Scoopful of BC's Thoughts

Post#1 » by BasketBrain » Sat Jun 28, 2008 12:42 am

What's up guys? Hope everyone is doing great. I am actually doing quite fantastic!

I liked the players we picked up in the draft. Brook really has a good chance to be something special, and what I mean by special I'm talking about a Hall of Fame caliber type of player. I'm not saying he will be a player of that level, but the guy has alot of potential and he already is a a good ball player. Can anyone deny the fact that at the very least we have obtained a player who will bring 12 points 7 boards and a block and a half a game? Is there any doubt in anyones mind that had this been 10 years ago Brook would've been a DEFENITE top three pick? I mean back then BIGS with his type of skill level and potential did not slip in the draft. Nobody passed on bigs back then. Also, with Diop most likely leaving and question marks about Krstic ever being the same again, this was an obvious selection.

Ryan Anderson seems to me like a decent pick. He's not going to be a great player but he's going to be servicable, which is probably the most you can ask for with the 21st pick, despite having potentially better players available. He seems at best he will be a Keith Van Horn type of player, Pat Garrity at worst. I predict he will be somewhere in between. He should be able to stretch out the defense at times and get our low post players better shots down low.

As for CDR, I really am surprised that the Nets at 21 has selected Ryan Anderson over CDR. Thorn must be really high on that Anderson kid. And of course, In Thorn We Trust. But I digress, Let's all hope that Jay Bilas among other scouts and writers are all right about CDR's potential. Could he be the Michael Redd of the draft? I think he has a great shot if not greater chance to be a steal compared to the other second rounders. Time will tell. With a second round pick, here's hoping he's atleast a rotational player who can bring something to the table. If you have read all the articles about this guy, it sure does sound like he will be a decent player, don't you agree?

I like all 3 picks should be very solid at the least .

Lopez would def. top5 pick in recent year in my eyes . But right now so many GM's are in Love with freak athletes even though many fail to ever realisize their potential .

About Anderson i like the pick we needed a shooter and he was one of the best shooters in the draft .
If he pans out as a Troy Murphy , Kvh type of player i'm going to be very satisfied ( as long as we don't overpay him like GS did with Troy ... ) Should be a solid player nothing that will blow you away but somebody who sould be a solid contributor .

CDR well very good pick at 40 kind of suprising makes you wonder if theres anything wrong with him or anything ? He was the best player on Memphis for a very long time but then again he's nobody thats going to wow you away with the way he's playing.

I think the Nets did very well in this year draft with going against the trends of freakish athelecism and projects and pick 3 rock solid player who all have to chance to make an impact.

Good luck from Halifax! I'm a raptors fan but the moves you've made so far could pay off in the long run. Whenever it's a deal I'm unsure about, I think I can usually trust that Thorn knows what he's doing. CDR looks like the steal of the draft by a mile.
