Now that we're lottery bound any good prospects out there?

Post#1 » by Adam1221 » Sun Jun 29, 2008 5:28 pm

Im not gonna be all doom and gloom but realisticlly this team aint making the playoffs and will likley get a very high draft pick.
So are there any good prospects out there I can anticipate wearing a Nets jersey next year?

Doubt we're any worse then last year ~30 Wins at the very least . After all we haven't traded Carter who we've never won a game without .

I'm making t-shirts that say "Patrick Patterson Or Bust" with the Nets logo on it. I saw him a handful of times in high school when he played with OJ Mayo and I always thought he was the better player lol. He tore it up on Kentucky until he broke a bone in his foot. Great competitor. Never gives up. Reminds me of Kenyon Martin with a more consistent mid-range game.

Ive been looking around that site and the guys you mentioned along with Derozan and Griffin look amazing.
Are they all likley to apply themselfes to the draft next year?

I dont know dude for 1 the East is about 10 times better than what it was last year with Miami,Chicago,Bucks,Bobcats,76ers and the Hawks all contending for the playoffs we're only better than the Knicks and equal to the Pacers.
So barring some unforseen development from all of our youngs guys its 1st-5th draft pick for us.

Well lets wait till the offseason is completely over before judging where the Nets will / can land .

But right now i expect some moves that will make some of teams you mentioned worse . Atlanta will lose at least one of the Josh's for example .

Broke a bone in his foot? Major injury? Please. It wasn't even a full break. It was a hairline and they kept him out because he became their best player by midseason and didn't want to push it since they weren't gonna make any major noise in the dance anyway. Don't make a hairline fracture out to be a knee injury ala Livingston. His injury will not hinder his abilities in any way fathomable in the future. Watch his highlights. Kid rocks.

Ohhh sorry didnt know it was just that, I admittedly dont watch collegue Basketball but I will say that I see plenty of prospects from that site that was mentioned in this topic.

Fair enough but I still dont think our team is built to even be thinking about the playoffs.

Agreed. The only thing I'm curious about is what other moves we're gonna make and what other assistants are we bringing in. The nets get weak attendance to begin with so, yeah it's fun to think about these kids and the future, we're not in a major market that can pull a good number of people into the seats unless we're somewhat competitive. I'm sure we'll make a move that will basically make us as good as we were last year but with potential.

With the assistants, we lost Cartwright and now have like 832902 big men on the roster. I know Kiki has been working with them, but we need a full time assistant whose specialty is big man. I was hoping we'd give Patrick Ewing a call but that probably won't happen. I wonder what others are out there.

This topic alone can show you the general opinion of our chances of making the playoffs.
But its really not that bad, I'd be fine if we sacrifice a season in order to get a high pick the Heat did it and just like that they look super competitive again.

I see plenty of prospects in the next draft that look amazing.

Both Miami and our rebuilding phases have yet to be completed. Miami has something that NJ doesn't in a superstar young talent to rebuild around in Wade. With Beasly, it's only the beginning, but there's may be much shorter than ours. It's probably going to take more than one season for us to even be thinking about mid-seed playoffs again.

Doubt they tank in the means by losing on porpuse . Obviosly the team will try to win games , does it mean we make the playoffs ?

Maybe not but if the young core develops some chemistry we're at least there where we've been last year , especially considering since it's not clear what exactly the other teams will do .

Last year chemistry was lacking bigtime with Kidd on his way out . Will the chemistry better next year ?
Who knows , at least the roster is more balanced then it was last year even without RJ when you look at it on paper .

I agree the chemistry was horrible last season. With 11 new guys we don't know how its going to turn out. I jsut hope Opie gives the young guys major minutes to develope and we finish with a nice high lottery pick.

I think having to start training camp earlier this year and playing pre-season games in Europe will be very good for the team chemistry this year with all the changes .

That beeing said a team that competes hard and tries to win games wins at least 30 Games in the NBA .
