Seeking Hassan Adams Info

Post#1 » by augustine » Tue Jul 1, 2008 4:37 pm

Hi Nets fans, Congrats on landing CDR in the second round, what a steal! I was hoping he would fall to the Raptors. Apparently, the Raptors have signed Hassan Adams, and I am looking for any info you guys can share about him. Strengths/Weaknesses, etc... Thanks.

Wonderful on the baseline on the offensive end. Good ball handling. Athletic. An energy guy player. Needed work on defense and shooting.

Thanks for the info. Does/can he slash to the basket a lot? That is our biggest need.

I always felt he should since he didn't have that much of a shot. I always felt Frank used him incorrectly on the offensive end because he didn't slash enough. Now I'm not a big fan of Sam Mitchell, no offense, so I don't know how much success Hassan will have there.

A question, did you sign him to summer league, training camp, practice squad, or promised roster spot?

Well, if I was a Raptor fan, I'd be worried that at 6'4 without a good range, does he have a real position in the NBA? I like him though. I really hopes he becomes a good player, even if it is for the Raptors.

I don't think that is sarcasim, mitchell coaches every player exactly the same not taking into account strengths or weaknesses. Basically tough love and go out there and figure it out on your own.

Weird about Adams needing to work on his D because I thought it was the reason the Raps picked him up, saying he can gaurd the 1,2,3

oh well agree he is a nice energy guy adding some sand paper to the Raps which they need

The thing was that he did stay in front of his man just by pure hustle. The thing was that he would be pushed around or shot over by the taller guards.

Yes, I do know Mitchell was a Coach of the Year winner. But gun to head, if I had to choose which one I'd let coach my team...I think I'd be dead.

Hassan Adams:

Can Do:
- Be a ball-hawk / good on-the-ball defender
- Play with energy, and get hustle stats (steals, offensive rebounds, etc.)
- Dunk with tremendous power and speed

Can't Do:
- Create his own shot (as a result of his under-developed ball handling skills)
- Nail a jumper with consistency
- Effectively body up larger guards or small forwards

If the Raptors are getting the same Hassan Adams the Nets had then his signing won't amount to much of anything if Adams has worked on his game and improved his dribble he might be able to squeeze himself into the lineup especially since he's not afraid of attacking the basket like some players are the Raptors seem to be...

Adams was always a fun player to watch but I think sometimes people let that unintentionally bias their assessment of him.

He's a great end of the bench glue guy. He is a great cheerleader that really loves the game and gives players energy. Don't expect him to become an important basketball player but he is a good guy to have.
