Trade idea- Going 100% into rebuilding Vince to Chicago

Well this team is clearly rebuilding next year.
With Vince Carter here we still have a solid chance of getting the 9th-10th seed which is the single worst possible situation a team can get because its terrible as far as the lottery goes and doesnt get you into the playoffs.

So aside from those few tickets Vince will be able to sell for a team that's clearly rebuilding and going to loose plenty of games next year that plays in a swamp I dont see a reason to keep him here.

So I thought about the following situation

Vince
Nenad in a S&T

for

Larry Huges
Ben Gordon in a S&T

Basically they get that " star" they've been looking for for god knows how long and a guy that be amazing if he recovers and we get a HUGE expiring contract and a great young player that can fit with our future plans.

The Nets aren't going 100% into rebuilding and no i don't want Ben Gordon . He's too small for our backcourt.

Ben Gordon works with PG/SG's 6´5 and taller as backcourt mate and we don't have that .

I would really have to consider this deal. Gordon may be a 6th man type but he is an elite shooter capable of scoring 20 a game. He turned 25 two months ago. He can get 30-35 mpg off the bench or as a spot starter. I don't know if you'd get a better offer for Carter, so its definitely worth a though. I guess it would come down to what his contract numbers would look like.

Last I checked, Hinrich is only 6'3" 190 and that back court seemed to work out pretty well. Harris is the same height.

I agree with almost everything you said here. If we're going to look at every move primarily based on "impact in 2010/11" a Carter/Gordon swap is a great one for NJ. Considering Gordon is nearly 6 years younger than Carter, he's almost certainly going to be the better player in 10/11 and will be making a decent amount less than Carter.

Since NJ is including Krstic in this proposal, I'd want a little more coming back (future pick or Thabo). But assuming Gordon's contract demands aren't insane, this is a deal I'd strongly consider.

Exactly.
Youre not gonna get a better offer for Vince.
A young talented player+a HUGE expiring contract is really all you can hope for.

Well no it didn't their backcourt problems alsways have been one of the reasons they lost in the playoffs . You get killed by a real sized backcourt if you have BG and a normal sized PG.

And second BG wants to much money.

Go ahead and pretend that it was the back court that led Chicago into their issues and not the deplorable offensive production they got from the PF/C spots.

Hamilton and Billups just killed that backcourt . You're not going to win a championship with that kind of backcourt and thats allways the goal.

If it is sign & trade, he would get 6 years

However, indications are that Ben will sign & stay with Chicago. They also plan to re-sign Deng. Therefore, I doubt they would consider adding Carter to their team.

At first glance I thought this was a good trade, then I took a look at it again, this can help us in 2010.

First, Depending on how much money BG wants, yeah it may effect us for 2010. I think it can help us too. We cant get every player that is a FA that summer. BG would work great with LBJ. Lebron drives and kicks it out to an open BG. If we can get BG for a decent amount of money, our line up for lebron would be:
Harris, BG, LEBRON, Yi, Lopez - Bench - CDR, Swat, M. Willl and picks
We can hope to try to sign and trade some other FA that want to play with Lebron.

Second, as slim as it may be, VC contract might be an obstacle for Chicago going after Lebron.

Third, Harris and BG backcourt can work. Harris guards the best player. Gordon is quick just needs to work on his D.

Fourth, JUST GET VC out of here.

Harris is really not strong enough to guard two's .

We can do better than this in a Carter trade.
