Okafor?

Post#1 » by ib4 » Tue Jul 22, 2008 3:31 pm

if charlotte isnt bringing him back, he could be available in a S&T...he'd probably seek a lucrative multi-year deal, and since everyone is on the bron-in-brox-09 bandwagon, the nets probably won't go after him, but what if? he's a presence in the middle and is much better than the bigs we have right now...

thoughts?

Eh I'm not interested. Yes, he is a double double machine but I'd rather stick with our young guys. I honestly believe down the line, Brook can become a better all around player than Okafor. Add that to the fact that if we landed him, we'd HAVE to trade Vince for an expiring within the next 2 years if we wanted to have the cap space for Lebron. I'd rather play with a 33 year old Vince than a 28 year old Okafor. Only way I'd think about it is if they took a deal of Stro/KVH and that's it. I'm not giving up anything of value for him.

Pipe dream and I don't even think it's a good pipe dream.

I am not sold on Okafor.

He wants too much for what he does. I would also rather have J. Smith. When we get Lebron he would be a better second option. J. Smith runs the floor, scores, rebounds and blocks shots.

Okafor wants just way too much money for my taste.

I like him, but I believe he was asking for Dwight money. That's just too damn much to give him.

If he comes around a Camby pricetag or slightly more fine but you can't give Okafor more then lets say 10-12 per year and even thats pretty shacky in my eyes

He's a 13/10 25yo undersized C with chronic back issues. If I were him, I'd be looking to bleed as much as I could out of this payday, because there may not be a 3rd contract in his future.

Basically, I'd love to have him, but I'm not going to be his sugar-daddy and offer him 5 years, $70mil. He called Charlotte's previous offer of 6/72 an insult, so I say,

the back issues is a good point. i brought the idea up because for a LONG time, NJ's weakness was a lack of a GOOD big man. not this familiar 7/6 type big men over the years.

Eh I'm completely fine with a platoon of Boone/Lopez banging down low. Younger and cost less. Okafor has already hit his ceiling. It's not a bad ceiling...it's just that he's not gonna get better. I think one of our big man on our roster can eventually be better than him.

How about Okafor vs Swift?

There's no way Okafor is worth 10+ million if Stromile also isn't.

Unlike Okafor, Swift didn't immedeately get a chance to get big minutes, but Okafor has not been able to make the postseason even with all those minutes...

I'm sorry, but your a joke.

STROMILE SWIFT IS NOT GOOD. GET THAT THRU YOUR HEAD.

Okafor is 10x better than Swift will ever be. Stromile Swift is considered one of the biggest busts in the last 10 years. He can't do anything but give you a dunk or 2. And please, don't talk about Okafor not getting into the playoffs. Did you forget he is on the Charlotte Bobcats? Also, don't tell me Swift led his team to the playoffs, EVER.

Have mercy.....
