Is it finally going to happen??

Post#1 » by ChampionRed » Wed Jul 30, 2008 2:04 am

Now that we have Yi and even Najara for that matter, are Nets games finally going to sell out or at least be close to it? According to Netsdaily, the Nets preseason game in London is even sold out. I really think it's a possibility. This made me think and I realized...if this actually happens we can no longer be bored one day and just decide to go to a Nets game (for those who don't have season tickets) and for those of us who get the nosebleed section, we can no longer sneak down to open seats in the lower level.

I'm just having some fun with this obviously, but man would I love the last seasons for the Nets in Jersey to be a packed house every night.

I don't think it'll be packed every night but maybe on certain games
but yeah I can see more tickets being sold due to Yi being here and all.

The exhibition games in Europe ALWAYS sell out mad quick. I think people want to see Vince and D-Wade and that's really it.

Now for the Nets, we do pull in good crowds against teams with superstars and we normally can get a decent amount out with certain promotions (i.e. family nights) but I don't think we're gonna get anything higher than last year as a whole in relation to the season unless we notice we have a potential star waiting in the wings.

All I know is that I want a Yi jersey regardless of whether or not he pans out lol.

As much as I'd Love to see us sell out a lot of games I really doubt it will happen. But I always manage to have a good time at the games no matter what. So I may as well enjoy it while it lasts. I'm sure after the move to Brooklyn we won't be able to get $10.00 seats anymore.

I wonder if Treiz is going to the game in London?

If Stromile Swift is given a chance to earn the starting spot, I don't see Yi starting this season.

^^^ Stro will be in a suit for 82 games this year if the Nets could. They'll probably have to suit him up though at times if someone gets hurt. My dog has higher basketball IQ than Stro.

You are wrong about that Yi will be the starting PF this season. I think Stro will be moving on this summer!

I understand why you are saying this. However, because of the coach and his poor player development skills we will never know if he could have been a decent player.

I like when people talk in third person. .

Hey Stro, be prepared, if you are not traded or waived, you will be in a suit on the IR list.

Swift needs to be moved ASAP so we can get more offensive help....no need to keep him here if we have Sean.

Swift, as a Net, will be one of the most expensive 12th men this year. Or Trenton Hassell. I just don't see them trading him just do it.

Of course looking at the roster, maybe I should say 14th man. I wouldn't play him unless I absolutely had to.

The problem with trading Swift is it's doubtful the Nets get anything worthwhile in return. Swift is crap but at least he's expiring.

There's no need for the Nets to take on a long term contract just to get rid of an expiring one.

Hell I'd trade him to a team with a large TE just so shed some salary and open a roster spot for a backup PG. Swift literally isn't gonna average 10 minutes a game this season unless something (Please Use More Appropriate Word) happens. It's pointless to keep him and pay his 6 million dollar salary.

Exactly. I'd rather cut him than making a trade for the sake of making a trade.

^^^ Anyone know the buyout amount of his contract or is it fully guaranteed since it's a player option he picked up? I think Chicago has a TE big enough (from the Big Ben trade) that can take him. I was curious because we'd probably send cash to pay part of his salary but I wanted to know Stro's buyout because it still could be cheaper to trade him for nothing.

Too bad we're not allowed to send him to Memphis for a 2nd round pick until next deadline LOL.

back to the orignal post.... its either the nets have a great ticket season or an all time low.... lets not forget we lost a fan favorite in kidd and jefferson... but at the same time i dont whoose been on the turnpike recentely but you cant even see izod anymore because of that big mall that got going over there that could only lead to more ticket sales... as far as the london pre season... of course they will sell out they never even get to watch live basketball

^^^^ The mall is called Xanadu. It's actually an incredible place by what it looks like on the plans, however, everytime I hear Xanadu I totally think of that crappy Olivia Newton John movie and cringe.

maybe a buyout...I doubt the Nets swallow this year's salary on Stro...you either pay him in full and let him ride the bench or cut a deal so he can play elsewhere this year...Nets might actually like to hold onto him for insurance purposes this year (ya never know)...its duly noted where he falls as far as the majority of fans here...obviousy he's getting paid more than he deserves with this team, but I dont mind him hangin around this year...(could be worse...)
