Unless we're talking about contending for 4th place in the Atlantic division or a top 6-7 lottery pick, you may need to specify what you meant by saying "New Jersey-Contender"

the east isnt half as competive as the west... you have to be a memphis or a minnesota shaped team not to be fighting for a spot...anything can happen

I do feel much more confident than most Nets fans, that we WILL be in the '09 playoffs. You have 17 contenders on your list, which I assume means that your definition is pretty much just who will make it to the post-season (+1, I know).

But that said, that doesn't make us anything more than statistical "contenders". Practically speaking, we have no shot at a title for the next two years (which is not unusual in today's NBA).

The Bucks are going to suprise and make the playoffs.

im happy u brought that up...as of right now the bucks shouldnt be trying to suprise anyone with mo redd rj and bogout they should be a top 8 team in the east... i think they will flop... i cant see there star players meshing together...

i dont think we are contenders, okc isnt a contender either, they are still in the west, and clippers i believe can contend, davis, mobley, gordon, camen, theyve got pirces...

High Seeded playoff teams; Boston, Possibly Cleveland, Detroit, Orlando, Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Antonio, Houston, LA Lakers, Phoenix, and Utah.

Other playoff teams; Washington, Toronto, Chicago, potentially the Nets, Dallas, Denver, and maybe the Warriors.

"The race for the 9th or 10th seed"; Charlotte (if larry brown is "Old school Larry" and not "NY Larry", Indiana, and Portland (although this team could really jump if all works out).

Dust off the good luck charms; New York, Milwaukee, Atlanta (it was sure nice to be a playoff team for a year), Miami (but this team should be primed for 2009-10), Memphis ( like there was any doubt), Minnesota, OKC TBD, LA Clippers (Baron Davis should be fun to watch), and Sacramento (i think they finally realize they need to rebuild).

Drill seageant Skiles won't smooth any situation either just throw grease on the stovetop fire.

This team has a chance to surprise a lot of people 76ers style but until than we're looking like a top 5 pick.

Exactly. I don't think Mo, Redd and RJ make alot of sense together on the perimeter. But 400-lb gorilla in the room is that Skiles is going to pull his hair out (edit: go insane) trying to get any of his starters to play even average defense. Unless the Bucks trade Mo and Villanueva for a more defensively sound PG-PF pair.
