if healthy and providing the nets can gel a develop a real good team chemistry, and if vince can do his thing, i see the nets being a sleeper, and making it to the playoffs.very young team, so i can see us making noise just rund your offense through vince and let him be the playmaker.

I don't know... Here are 7 teams in the East that I think are easily better than the Nets / a lock for the playoffs:

Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, Detroit, Cleveland, Orlando, Washington

That leaves the following teams + the Nets to battle it out for the 8th spot:

New York, Indiana, Chicago, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte

Looking at those teams... Charlotte at least on paper has more talent than the Nets, and you can never count out Miami if Wade is healthy (not to mention Beasley = Beast), Atlanta should be better now that they're going to get a full season of Bibby...

I don't like to be negative, but even getting the 8th seed just seems like a stretch at this point...

I hope the nets make it in but the east is looking pretty competitive

Out of all those maybe teams, I put the Nets at about the middle, better than New York, Indiana, Milwaukee, Charlotte. If things go well, maybe move up a spot, which is still 9th. If a team above has some sort of disaster, we can sneak into 8th.

Harris will really need to step it up and prove that he can run a team at an above average starting NBA PG level.

I wont count out out on the sleeper statement...but agree w/ Netsforce, I'm not sure how far that lable will take us...

either way you have to be excited about HOW we are gonna go. Are we gonna be young exciting team? Or are we gonna stink it up? Is VC gonna bring it or will he shut it down if things don't go his way. Either way just bring on oct 31. I can't wait.

of course...compared to last season...how could you not be excited......its refreshing to see a "new" Nets team start a season with a lot of good question marks...rather than the question marks of expectation...

?--#1: What type of player will Devin Harris become once this season comes to an end?

?--#2a: What type of game will Vince bring...scoring, all-around player or passing up the big shot?
?--#2b: Will Vince be traded before the deadline?

?--#3: Will Yi provide more than just ticket sales for the Nets?

?--#4: How will Lawrence Frank coach this new team, specifically what rotations and units will he utilize?

?--#5: What type of production will our draft picks provide (Lopez, Anderson and CDR)?

?--#6: Who will win the battle of starting center...Boone vs. Lopez?

?--#7: Who are our new Nets?-- Does Hayes take advantage of a starting opportunity? Can Dooling be an effective backup point guard? Will Najera be able to fit in effectively? Is Simmons healthy? ?...

?--#8: What will Sean Williams' sophmore year provide Nets fans...frustration or highlights?

?--#9: Does Lawrence Frank get fired?

I have no expectations...I'm excited to see how this year plays out...I can honestly say, this is the first time in a long time I do not find a need to make definitive or bold predictions...I rather just sit back and watch how everything plays out...and I'll probably be just as happy winning and making it into to playoffs as I will be losing and hitting the lottery...one way or another, questions will be answered and next summer we'll have a better idea of who the Nets are...

I think people are underestimating Miami.

Wade, Marion and Beasley is a nice trio. I think Miami is going to give Orlando a run for the division spot.

I feel exactl the opposite. We're gonna be pretty bad next year. Probably Bottom 5 in the whole league.

Think about it:

We downgraded drastically our SF, our entire frontcourt is young as hell meaning a lot of foul trouble and the east is a lot tougher. I see us competing with the likes of Indiana, charlotte and probably new york as the worst team in the east.

I'm not too optimistic but I do know that's what rebuilding is. Suck a few years and stockpile on young talent then trade a few of them away and turn into championship contenders ala boston and miami....

First time in a long time that at least 1 of my favorite teams doesn't make the post season. At least the patriots lost...

and evaluating this team through this year, imo, will be fun...the Kidd era has closed...we'll see what the future hold for the Nets...

get used to it my young Skywalker...you have been spoiled in your youth between the Yanks, Nets and Giants...you have no idea how lucky your young sport fan years have treated you...

as for the Nets...expect the unexpected...

Starting out "new" is always fun and exciting. Doesn't necessarily translate to wins though. Honestly, I think it's going to be tough. It's gonna be up to the rookies. I think you know what you'll get from Vince, Devin, and Dooling off the bench. The rest is pretty much a question mark though.

And that's the beauty of it. I couldn't care less if,as jeff said, we finish bottom five, just miss the playoffs or make it. We are rebuilding on the fly. As long as frank realises that the youngun's need to play and as long they do play AND continue to develop. I will be happy.

Wether we lose more than we win. I still think we will be competitive.

Just my thoughts anyways

I do not see the Nets making the playoffs. I do see the Hawks making the playoffs.
