What do you expect out of VC next season?

Post#1 » by etopn23 » Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:55 pm

Personally, I think it'll be his best season as a Net:
And Vince, how’d he look? Carter had off-season ankle surgery and initial reports say he’s fine. Your take, Josh?

“Every time I see him, it just reaffirms the fact that I’ve never
seen anyone more talented on the basketball court. He’s not going full
out right now,” Boone said, “but when he was out here he looked good.”

Boone said Carter ended a 3-on-3 game by doing a 360 move to provide an exclamation point. And there was more.

“He’s doing Vince things at this point. Shooting left-handed 3-pointers, making them,” raved Boone

This could make or break his career. I'm actually excited about our next season (although the outlook is bleaker than it's every been going in)....

I expect an extremely good season from his if he's injury free . No pressure , young team , nobody to on the team really to criticize him . Perfect situation.

I'm going to say 25/5/7 . ( our system really pushes guards rebounding numbers )

In my opinion VC can't win. If he averages 22 6 5 and he defers to ( helps out ) the young kids people will bag him for being weak and not stepping up and winning us games. If VC comes out averages 30 6 and 5 and we end with 30-35 wins he will be bagged for not being the superstar he should be and for not getting us enough wins. If VC does somehow drag us to the playoffs he will get bagged cos he cost us a lottery pick.

Tell me I'm wrong.

Just bring it EVERY night VC, just like MJ, BIRD and MAGIC did, make those around you better. Take over games like they did, get us the wins like they did. not predicting anything but I would be happy with 100% effort every game.

VC will do what he usually does coast expecially now. He will get his numbers but wont go beyond unless the nets are not too far back to a playoff spot. Then he will pick up his game. This of course will hurt the Nets with the lottery.

Cool.

If you actually believe VC is capable of being on those guys level you are F'en Crazy.

How about this!!! If he is considered as an MVP, because that is what he has to be this year, I will be the first to say...

VC FOR MVP!!!!!!! and Someone can create an F'n SIG saying so. I will post it for a year.

When was the last time an MVP was on a lottery team lol? Vince will put up his normal stats, on occasions dropping 35-40 points or flirts with a triple double but doesn't do it. Everyone knows he's a great player/teammate and all but Vince never had that "slit your throat and laugh while you die" killer instinct. He's just had that "trip you so you scrape your knee then give you a back rub because he feels bad" killer instinct. I mean I love the guy and want him on this team, but he is what he is.

^^^ Lol just saying Vince doesn't have the killer instinct MJ, Magic, Bird or even Kobe has. The first 3 would take you down at all costs. Vince doesn't put himself on the line like that which is why he'll never raise to that level. I love Vince he's an all-star and I love him, but I really don't think we'll ever take the team to the next level until we have a killer on the team. Even if you don't agree, everyone on the Spurs are like that too. Just saying every great team has a mass murderer on their roster.

SIC not for one second am i saying vc is on thier level. What I am sayin is they were the elite they were there franchise players and for 82 games ayear for 10 plus years they brung (is that even a word?) it. VC is up there with the skill level but not the desire, hustle dare i say heart and definately not the killer instict. Prelude said it right. Vc is our franchise player and I would like him to "bring it" for 82 games is all.

Absolutely correct. Last time we saw anything close to that was his first year here. That guy's been on milk cartons since. He's more team oriented now, but when Kidd was here, it wasn't what the team needed. Maybe he just liked being the second star on the team. Either way, even with Kidd AND RJ gone, I don't expect to see that guy again this year.

aussie basically had it right in his initial post. VC is in a lose-lose situation. The only option he has to succeed is leading this team into a magical season and being a MVP candidate (he is capable of doing so, IMO)

My whole argument is VC has truly been a professional throughout his career. No Raptor trolls please. Tired of winning those arguments - not going back there. The guy may not "bring it" every night, but most players in the league don't either..honestly it's not physically possible to do. His talent is without question top-notch, but I agree with the killer instinct comments. Is it that he doesn't have it? He's shown glimpses of having it (especially in Sydney) and on a few occasions throughout his NBA career. It's not consistent, completely agree with those comments. For someone (not neccesarily anyone here) to misconstrue his motive in playing (just to get his numbers, doesn't love the game,etc..) is nonsense. The guy has proven to be consistent and improve in every aspect of the game, so you know you can chalk up 23 points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists 90% of the time. His perception among the media and fairweather fans is inaccurate, and is a clouded judgement based on inconsistencies that have plagued him his entire career. Trust me, I've followed him more than anyone else on these forums and probably any other "fan." Surround him with what he needs to succeed; 1) coach/system (never had it, fire frank.) 2)tough, hard-nosed teammate(s) (Hasn't had it since Oakley and AD) 3)Consistent outside shooter (never had it) and 4) a legit big man (who is a threat on the block) -- and he is a champion. He's a team player who is unselfish and wants to win, bottom line.
