Training Camp/Roster

Can anyone give me some insight into what's being created w/ this roster.
I noticed the Nets are inviting Julius Hodge and Desmon Farmer to camp.
I've followed both players. They compete hard and are leaders. I think they are better than Roberts and Ager. Perhaps more useful than Hassell or Simmons.
Why are there so many SF and SG's?
I guess by inviting only SG and SF's to camp it means they are still looking for something from that position.
Why does a team that is rebuilding still have Vince Carter?
Am I the only one or does it seem like there are a lot of spare parts, but no team?
Would it be fair to say a low post scoring threat and really good wing are what's needed here most?

Let's hope so.
Why are there so many SF and SG's?
There's a bunch of 3s, none I think are starting caliber. We're pretty low on playable 2s.

Not always the case. We invited a bunch of bigs the last few years and we've found nothing.

Probably a veteran leader to try and gel the team together. He'll be traded only if there's a deal we can't pass up.

This has been the case since K-Mart's departure.

That's interesting.
I can tell you Farmer is very good player, he can score in all kinds of ways. You can see some of what he can do in the golden state game on the link below.
http://www.nba.com/summerleague2008/tea ... am=raptorsI mentioned this in another thread, but this team is really a low post threat away from being hard to defend and competitive.
As I look at it Yi, Hassell, Ager, and Swift for Zach Randolph works money wise.

Camp invites so far are going to be Hogde , Farmar , Demarr Johnson and Brian Hamilton.

As I look at it the team is solid at the SF with Simmons|Hayes|Hassell
I guess with Yi at the PF the Nets could run like Dallas. See what Yi is all about. Like Dirk playing with Vince.
Don't know much about Brian Hamilton. IMO, from what I've read he sounds like Trenton Hassell.
Demarr Johnson is what Jarvis Hayes is
With Vince's history of injury having a real "scoring" guard on the bench is a must.
I think Hodge can help the team win. He can be used all over like Boris Diaw.
IMO shedding Swift, Ager, and Hassell may be addition by subtraction.

No I don't think that's fair to say. Carter is a really good wing.
What's needed most is defensive presence, particularly in the paint. Boone and Yi won't provide it.
Swift can, but he may not play.
The perimeter D will probably be mediocre, but it could be ok if Simmons and Hassell play a lot and are backed up by strong defensive presence in the paint.

This is getting out of hand. SWIFT IS NOT AND CANNOT BE A DEFENSIVE PRESENCE, unless of course we are talking about him defending the Gatorade from the fans in the courtside seats, cause man, not many on on his level when it comes to that, except maybe Jamal Magloire or Maurice Ager.

Indeed Vince is very very good wing player.
I meant they need a back up SG. I think they need a scorer off the bench w/ the lack of front court post play.
Simmons/Hayes/Hassell are SF's. Hayes can shoot but is not a scorer. We know Hassell is all defense.
They need to get something from the back up SG spot. Ager...
CDR is good, but did he take 1 3pt FGA in the Rocky Mtn Revue? They'll play him for the drive
With all the opportunities Swift has gotten, we kind of see he's not the guy. He's never been mistaken for a leader on any level.
He and Ager should be sent away. Williams, Boone, Najera, and Lopez will have to man blocks on D.

Hey VC4Pres,
dont let Stro get you. He is just fustrated about the fact he lacks motivation, has underchieved and he blames other people but himself. That is why he comes on this board. We all know he is the real Stro, because only the real stro would thing so highly of himself when everyone else see the reality.
Stro, I told you already stop speaking in the third person.
