Should Frank turn to a more uptempo philosophy?

I seriously think that's what is best for this team. 85 % of these half court plays have been god awful. You have guys shooting contested shots all the time . Guys doing 1 on 1 all the time leading to turnovers...man it gets ugly..
The Nets have a few guys that can excel in an uptempo offense...
Yi, Devin, Vince, CDR, dooling, Sean Williams.

I agree.

Also, even though it becomes a little predictable we should strictly be running about 3 sets in the half court in no particular order, at least at 1st:

1. VC with the ball early in the shot clock up top either breaking his man off the dribble and then drawing the foul/finishing in the lane or drive and kick to the shooters moving around off screens.

2. Posting up Lopez

3. pick and roll with Devin and assorted shooters, especially Yi on the baselines at about 10-18 feet.

Even though it is preseason I saw way too much iso with the ball in the hands of the likes of Bobby Simmons, Ager and even Harris, with everyone else standing around watching them. Now thats predictable.

The defense is going to go from bad to horrible if the Nets go to an uptempo philosophy. I'm also not convinced that a true uptempo phillosophy (I'm talking Denver Nuggets - Phoenix Suns style) is conducive to winning in the long-run...

You need a ton of talent, and I mean A TON, if you want to play uptempo and win in the playoffs.

And shouldn't that be what it's all about? Winning in the playoffs?

This is just my opinion though... I'd rather see Frank be hard on the young players and try to teach them good habits (which hate him or love him you have to admit Frank does try to do), than to let them run free develop bad habits and put up hollow stats in a losing effort.

the Nets just need to push the ball when they can...not at every given moment...but when the situation prevents itself, you need to take advantage of that sort of game, especially with Harris...

I think Frank's Offense should be:

1- Give the Ball to Lopez. Though he is a rookie, this is the most important player that needs early development. Lopez has to work on passing out of the post. Frank had this other play that I like featuring a pass to the PF/C in the paint. Where the passer slashes to the basket or positons for an open shot. Or the PF/C shots the ball with a hook or close range jumper.

2- Everyone should be setting Picks for Harris and Carter. Simmons/Yi/ Anderson/Lopez/CDR/Hayes/ Pick and Pop. Boone/Yi/Lopez/SWill/Swift(happy Ragtime) Pick and Roll

3- When we need a basket give the ball to VC.

i agree with that, however there is a problem, and the problem is what is the identity of the team, what are we, half-court, uptempo, defnsive

to me we need to become a defensive team, we dont have enough offensilvey to be a offensive team, any winning is gonna have to be done w/ good D and exceptional offense...

^I dont know about the offense.

We have shooters, Penetration, low post offense and we can run. I think we have offense.

On the Defense, we have a big man, PG that can pressure the ball, low post defense, defensive rebounding, and blocking.

We also have a COACH that preaches defense but it doesnt happen. He says the perimeter D is better but we get beat from the arc in preseason. When is Frank going to realize. STOP DOUBLING THE POST. Let the young guys learn or let the PF/C score if they can. Guard the 3.

What also have is Harris losing his D like RJ. I wonder why. I think that the idea that Harris is the second scoring option like RJ last year is affecting his D. Which comes back to the coach.

Especially when we can trot out a front line of all 7 footers, I don't think doubling is necessary.

1st option should be VC doing what he does best(and no S.I.C., that doesnt mean tucking his tail between his legs and running)

2nd should be post plays for B Lopez

3rd should be Harris or Carter running pick and rolls

other than that they can use the DD offense. I'm not much of a fan of the L Frank version of it but the team is scoring

again......how is it that we have an alleged defensive minded coach and for the 4th straight year the perimeter defense is horrible

Stop doubling in the post. they act like we're playing Shaq in his prime every night. All of that nonsense is the reason why complete bums light us up from 3 every night
