WAKE UP, NETS FANS!!! Time to Trade

OK, it's pretty clear that we could use a low-risk jolt in our lineup, if we're planning on being competitive at all (which, if we're interested in LeBron or any other major FA in 2010, I suggest we should).

I wanted to get opinions on what NJN fans thought would be best plan of action, from a variety of moves that utilize some of our assets that are going to waste. When you think about it, we have two main things that can be valuable to other teams via trade: space under the luxury tax, and spare bigmen. We can afford to lose a big (or two) and still have a cohesive unit, and we have more than $8mil in room before we hit the luxury tax threshold. Finally, we have the instant expiring contract of Keith Van Horn, an asset that teams over the cap covet, as it can "erase" $4mil from their payroll immediately via trade.

I have listed below a variety of deals we could pull off before the season starts. Please take the tiem to look at each, and vote on which you think would be best for us.

Francis/Hayes/Brooks/DJ/$2mil for KVH/Sean/Ager

Swift/Hassell/KVH/Williams/Ager/$3mil for Iverson

KVH/Ager for Bell

KVH/Ager for Barbosa - ***This deal DOES impact our 2010 capspace by $7mil***

Swift/KVH/Sean/Ager for Jackson/Milicic/Watson

Umm..may I?

This deal makes us more competitive now, but does risk our 2010 free agency. If the team doesn't move to Brooklyn and we aren't somewhat competitive no one will want to come anyways.

With that being said, Boone is the odd man out here. Good player, love his passion but Lopez and him are more similar and SWAT gives us another dimension.

Thoughts?

i like tne bell trade alot, and it is trhe most realistic, with Bell we add defense and some scoring along to fill the position of our SG/SF, plus he is consistent and clutch...

If i may add my two cents worth I'm not really interested intrading right now. Yeah sure look around but for now this squad needs some time to gell.
1. Give Boone the first month at about 38 mins a game he will give us 16pts 12rebs it will drive his trade value up ( as i see it right now he will look to injury prone to gm's, but a month of decent numbers will help erase that memory for them)
2. work Lopez into the rotation slowly. He should avg about 18-20 mins a game this hopefully should save him later on from the rookie wall if we trade Boone.
3. Gmoney i like your trade for wallace and nazr. But this would create a log jam at the three or is he more a two? Bobcats are shopping him so I say wait. (see next point)
4. VC. Everything hinges on him. Does he come to play for an entire 82 game season? Is he just biding his time waiting for that trade to a contender. I really don't know. Not many contenders or teams on the brink have much cap space. If we trade VC we will probably get a bad contract/player back.
I suggest a three team trade that includes a contender, bobcats and us. That way we can move VC on, get wallace and hopefully not burn up to much cap space.
5. Not real keen on getting Iverson yeah i know he is an expiring but i feel he will take away from devon's development. Besides how many scoring point guards do we need? Devin, AI and dooling and Gill.
Feel free to poke holes in my plans

Cheers

Wallace can play the 2/3/4. VC can play the 2/3. CDR can play the 2/3.

Harris/Dooling
VC/CDR/Ager
Wallace/Simmons/Hayes (don't see him doing much honestly..)
Yi/Williams/Anderson/Najera (or him...)
Mohammed/Lopez

Nice mixture of offense and defense. I hate to part with Boone, but I see his minutes getting cut with Lopez' development. Sean Williams gives us another dimension and something we need in athleticism and shot-blocking. No one else can duplicate his production besides Swift. Deal him at the deadline, since he's expiring, with a filler and get a big man if Yi/Lopez/Mohammed struggle.

Oh my God Gerald Wallace. He's probably my favorite non-Net in the NBA.
